Dockside Breakers CIC is a community-led group that seeks to raise the profile of breaking in Liverpool via workshops, performances, and competitions. In partnership with Leap Dance Festival, Dockside Breakers CIC hosted their first breaking event - BOSS BREAKING on 05/05/2024. This comprised of a beginners' breaking workshop, a breaking performance, and 1v1 breaking battles with under 16 and over 16 categories. We also performed across Liverpool city centre as part of the Leap Dance Festival street shows on 06/05/2024.On 03/06/2024, Liverpool City Council commissioned us to perform at the waterfront for the Queen Anne Naming Ceremony, which celebrated a new ship within the Cunard fleet.BOSS BREAKING was positively received in the breaking community, and it put Liverpool "back on the map", as the last breaking event (Scouse Jam) was hosted over a decade ago here. We hope to host another one next year.Public performances have raised some awareness that breaking still exists in Liverpool, and we have received a couple of queries regarding gig work and lessons. We hope to start lessons in September 2024,and we also hope to grow the breaking community in Liverpool. All "profits" will be used to raise the profile of breaking in Liverpool. We seek to share our passion of this Hip Hop art form, especially with breaking debuting in the Olympics in August 2024!"
