During 2023 Eric Unites has achieved the following: - In recognition that we need to become a charity, the CIC was changed from Eric Knows CIC to Eric Unites CIC, all Directors agreed with this change. - We have been accepted on to the Space Communication Programme, whereby students will get to speak with an Astronaut on the ISS. - We secured £10,000 from the Shackleton Foundation and STEM group was formed to cater for SEND children and their families.- Autism Awareness and Emotional Positivity course began thanks to funding (£10k) from Great Aycliffe and Middridge (GAMP) AAP. - At the start of 2023, we employed 5 part time members of staff, who are disabled/are neurodivergent to create content for the website in the form of blogs and listings. This was thanks to £24K secured from the peoples postcode lottery. - Eric Unites outgrew the space available at the CIC, Bridge Creative, Bishop Auckland, and we moved to the Four Clocks, also in Bishop Auckland.
Our stakeholders are: - The public - SEND families- AAP and the council - SEND young people and adultsBecause we employ experts by experience, we seek to gain constant feedback from our employees on what makes our work environment accessible and what is needed for disabled people to thrive in awork environment. We liaise with the SEND families we work with in terms of what is accessible, what they need, services which entail lengthy waits and what day to day struggles look like for such families. We also liaise with schools regarding the support they receive through statutory services and where gaps in knowledge and ability may exist. We use this to drive what we do to ensure that provision meets gaps and needs. Whoever uses the website and provides feedback to us, we also utilise in website improvements. We also gain thoughts and feedback from our staff in terms of what would make the website more user friendly.
