Company activities and impact

Start Change empowers vulnerable individuals from marginalised communities - including the BIPOC, LGBTQ12S+, people with disabilities, and BAME communities - to gain the right tools and attitudes to fulfil their dreams contributing to a fair and sustainable society. In 2023 we were still sourcing funding in order for projects to be initiated at a time where there has been less capital readily available. The CIC has designed change making programmes ready for delivery to targeted communities in London boroughs where government statistics show the highest concentration of BAME communities. The lived experience leadership structure is in place and programmes will be rolled out once funding becomes available. The CIC has developed Equality Impact Assessments from the lived experience CEO, Julia Jean Charles, an ambassador who works closely with key decision makers in the public sector commissioning programmes addressing equalities within these communities. The company is still in its early stages and therefore it is still too early to measure any social impact but we hope that we are able to build on the work already in place and soon roll out some initial programmes which are really needed in these communities.
