Company activities and impact

During the financial year ending October 31, 2023, AfMental CIC has primarily focused on the development of our innovative mental health app, which is currently in its pre-launch phase. This crucial development period has laid a strong foundation for future benefits and impacts on the community. Here's how our activities have already started to make a difference:-Foundation for Enhanced Access to Mental Health Services:By dedicating resources to the development of our mental health app, we are addressing a significant gap in the availability and accessibility of mental health support for African communities and the African diaspora. Once launched, this app will offer a comprehensive range of services, including counselling, therapy, and crisis intervention, directly accessible from users' mobile devices.-Community Engagement and Awareness:Even in the pre-launch phase, we have actively engaged with the community through surveys, focus groups, and pilot testing. These activities have not only provided valuable feedback to refine our app but also raised awareness about mental health issues and the upcoming resources that will be available to the community.-Building Strategic Partnerships:Throughout the year, we have forged strategic partnerships with mental health professionals, technology experts, and community leaders. These partnerships are critical for ensuring that our app is culturally sensitive, technically robust, and well-received by the community. These relationships will continue to play a vital role in the successful deployment and impact of our services.-Capacity Building and Employment:The development of the app has involved hiring local talent and engaging professionals in various capacities, contributing to skill development and employment within the community. By fostering local expertise in mental health and technology, we are empowering individuals and enhancing the community's capacity to support mental health initiatives.-Setting the Stage for Stigma Reduction:Our focus on creating a user-friendly, accessible platform aims to normalize seeking mental health support. The anticipated launch of our app will significantly contribute to reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues by providing discreet, convenient, and professional assistance.-Preparation for Affordable Mental Health Services:We are committed to offering subsidized mental health services based on individual needs through our app. This year's groundwork has included securing funding and developing a pricing model that ensures affordability without compromising on the quality of care.In summary, while our primary activity this financial year has been the development of the AfMental app, these efforts have already begun to benefit the community by raising awareness, building capacity, and laying a strong foundation for future service delivery. The positive impact of these activities will become even more evident as we transition from the development phase to the launch and operational phases in the coming year.
