Jigsaw provides coaching and workshops to improve the mental wellbeing of the claimants and the legal team.Creatability (Sep 22 - Jun 23): This project involved a collaboration with Collective Encounters who ran creative workshops for people with a visual impairment (VIs), enabling them to try drama, movement, improvisation and story-telling. The aim was to build connections and self-confidence and to share further creative opportunities. Funded by Liverpool Community Impact Fund. VI Wellbeing and Work (Sep 22 - Feb 24): Funded by Liverpool Health and Wellbeing Fund. The aim is to improve the wellbeing of VIs through coaching, workshops, social events and support those who want to explore moving towards volunteering or employment.VI Employability project (Nov 23 – Mar 24): Jigsaw was commissioned by VICTA, a national charity supporting children and young people with a visual impairment to support a national pilot to enhance their employment prospects. It included a week-long residential at the Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) for a cohort of VIs aged 19-29, followed by coursework. Jigsaw ran a workshop at the RNC, several online workshops to support the participants to complete their coursework and provided individual coaching sessions as required.
Key stakeholders are:People with a health condition or disability (HCD) and are unemployed, who want support to overcome barriers to move towards training, volunteering or employment.Organisations who work with unemployed people with a health condition or disability.People whose health is affected by their job or who want to consider a change of career.Jigsaw has continued to develop connections with organisations who work directly with people as outlined above, and also with more strategic partners.- Jigsaw has consulted with people with a health condition or disability to inform the design of workshops and other support to address specific needs of each group.- For the national VI pilot, Jigsaw talked to all participants before the residential to identify any concerns or worries and to provide support to deal with them.- Coaching participants have been asked for feedback at each session, and the style and pace of questions has been revised to suit needs of individuals.- Jigsaw has created volunteering opportunities for people who have been through previous Jigsaw workshop programmes. This helps to build their confidence and gives them work experience.- External evaluations have been commissioned for ongoing projects, which will give useful feedback from participants, and also measure the social value created.Action taken in response to feedback from its consultations:- Feedback gained from external evaluations (both from participants and from other stakeholders) is used when designing new programmes or projects.- People who have taken part in previous Jigsaw projects are offered opportunities to help out in subsequent workshops, to give them practical experience and to ensure the workshops stay relevant to the target audience.- Consultations with people with a visual impairment and the charities who work with them are used to develop new funding bids, to ensure that future projects meet their needs.
