The company’s activities benefit the community and in particular by raising funds for local charities to enrich, support and empower the lives of local people in our area. We do this by operating an annual event that brings people together to experience and enjoy the fun of a Soap Box Derby.During 2023 we held our annual Richards Castle Soap Box on the last Sunday of June 2023. The funds raised from this event resulted in a £11,200 donation to local charities. There were three primary beneficiaries, receiving £8,000 in total:- Orleton Recreation Association- Marches Family Network- Sight Loss ShropshireIn addition, we made smaller donations totalling £3,200 in total to:- The Firefighters Charity- West Mercia Police Welfare Fund- Ludlow Air Cadets- Richards Castle WI- Richards Castle Village Hall- Richards Castle PCC
The Directors appointed a Soap Box Committee of 12 local volunteers who collectively research and agree on the charities we support each year. Due diligence includes exploring how a charity would use the funds we raise, assessing their need in light of any other funding they receive and confirming their charitable status.
