    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold land, at rates calculated to write off the cost, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows:Fixtures, fittings, tools and equipment - 25% Reducing Balance

    Other accounting policies

Debtors - Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts.Creditors - Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method.

Company activities and impact

Keith Critchlow Legacy CIC was set-up to:1 Create a physical space to house the library and art collection of the late Professor Keith Critchlow providing access to students and scholars of traditional architecture, art and sacred geometry who want to learn from his life’s work2 Run workshops, seminars and lectures where people can explore the meaning, philosophy, and practice of sacred geometry3 Provide inspiration and guidance for people seeking to create sustainable buildingsOur community is comprised of alumni, students and scholars of architecture, sacred geometry and other visual and traditional arts who want to learn from the body of work left by Keith. The alumni referenced above include Keith’s former students from the Kings Foundation of Traditional Arts (https://www.kings-foundation.org/school-of-traditional-arts).During the current financial year KCL has achieved its first aim of setting up a physical space to house Keith’s library and art collection. We signed an agreement to rent a large room in Emerson College (Hartfield Road, Forest Row, East Sussex, RH18 5JX) and in January 2023 we moved Keith’s library, teaching materials and art collection from Wimbledon Arts Studios in London to the new Emerson College space. It is now a functional library and meeting space. This new studio was officially launched on March 16, 2023, on what would have been Keith Critchlow's 90th birthday. At the launch event we held several workshops on sacred geometry and screenings of previously unreleased footage of Keith Critchlow. The event was attended by over 70 members of our community.Other major activities in 2023 are summarized below.WorkshopsKCL has run several open studio days and workshops delivered by Keith’s former students and colleagues including1 Symbolism Of the Platonic Solids Relating to Architecture & Design (08/09/2023) – run by Jon Allen. An investigation into the symbolism of the Platonic Solids based on the insights of Professor Keith Critchlow2 The Labyrinth: Descent Into the Underworld (23/09/2023) – run by Tom Bree. A guide you through the meaning and symbolism of the labyrinth, focusing on Chartres Cathedral’s labyrinth3 Sacred Geometry Self-Study Day in the Keith Critchlow Legacy Studio – two days of self-directed contemplation, study and perusing hosted by two of Keith’s children: Amelia Critchlow and Dr Matthew Critchlow, both of whom are directors of KCL.Revenues generated support the rental of the library.Other ongoing activities include:1 sorting and cataloguing Keith’s library of books and studio items2 Collating Keith’s unpublished manuscripts and personal notebooks for new publications3 Collaborating with Emerson, SAOG and other educational partners to plan future teaching eventsBuilding proposalMatthew Critchlow also developed a proposal to build a multi-faith building designed by Keith (The Centre Building) plus additional buildings (The Studios) designed by architect Nicolas Pople on the Emerson Campus. The Centre Building was originally designed by Keith for the Memnosyne Institute in the U.S. to serve as “a sacred space for worship, for each and every human faith” as well as social gatherings, educational events and live music. Memnosyne hasgranted permission for KCL to use the same design in the UK. The Studios will be a space to house Keith’s library and art collection; and a purpose-built, sustainable teaching and office space. We have also been supported by engineer David Tasker and architect and sacred geometer Jon Allen in this project. We are now seeking donations from former students of Keith and former patrons of the charities and educational institutions where he worked to fund the building project.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are comprised of alumni, students and everyone else who was inspired by the work of Keith Critchlow on architecture, sacred geometry and other visual and traditional arts.1 For workshops and teaching – we consulted with Daniel Docherty (director of KCL CIC), Tom Bree, Jon Allen, Adam Tetlow and Haifa Khawaja.2 For the development of the building proposal – we consulted with Nicolas Pople, David Tasker, Jon Allen, Damian Mooncie (director of Emerson College) and Stephen King (trustee of Emerson College)
