Between December 2022 and Nov 2023 we gave therapeutic yoga classes to the local Tower Hamlets and Haringey/Islington & Hackney Communities in person where possible and on zoom.Our therapeutic yoga & mindfulness classes online and in person to continue to support the local community offering classes to support people’s mental & physical wellbeing. This included some more condition-specific classes, offering specialist classes for people with Cancer, Back Issues, Long Covid, Mental Health Issues, Womb Health, Addiction and so on. We have put particular emphasis into our classes for people with Long Covid moving from 3 free classes a week to 4, Cancer and addiction seeing this is where people need our services while also offering more one to one specialist classes to people with trauma. We also got some more funding to offer free classes to people suffering Long Covid.The director of the project Claire Whalley, also ran a number of therapeutic yoga retreats for people across the country in both the New Forest and Devon working in particular with people who have Long Covid & Cancer.
Our stakeholders are:1. Our customers – yoga students and NHS patients who self-refer or have been referred to partake in our therapeutic yoga services.2. Our employees – during this audited year we employed 1 staff and 1 self employed consultants to help run the company, conduct outreach and administer our classes online on zoom and 25 teachers to help run the individual specialist classes supporting different health conditions.3. Our volunteers – during this audited year, we had 4 volunteers who help with grant applications, social media and marketing.4. Board Directors and Advisors. We revised our board of directors so that the board is now 75% diverse reflecting our stakeholders.5. Our suppliers – our yoga teachers and psychotherapists offering specialist classes and student/patient support. We also engaged an Ayurvedic therapist6. Investors offering grants – during this audited year we received grants from The East End Community Fund and EDMUK part of Sports England.We consulted with our customers on a regular basis to ascertain what kind of services they needed, especially in relation to our long COVID wellbeing programme. Regular mail outs were sent alongside consultation at the end of class. We worked closely with NHS long COVID clinics and Barts oncology department to best serve their patients.Our employee & volunteers were consulted regularly on a twice weekly basis on how best to operate the CIC and how best to serve the community, working collaboratively as a cooperative.We had consultations with the Board of Directors online where regular advice and consultation was sort with particular individuals on the board of directors and the advisory board.Our suppliers – teachers & therapists were regularly consulted over how best to serve the community and also their needs and requirements.Investors – we consulted with our investors to best understand their remits and to make sure we were fulfilling their funding criteria.
The director of the programme received 2 PAYE payments, one in March and one in September to cover her part time work on the yoga for life project of administration, creating new programmes, brokering new coproduction partnerships, overseeing the teachers and students and fund raising.
