COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

CRANBROOK YOUTH CLUB CIC

Company Number: 14503611 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2023

Company activities and impact

Cranbrook Youth Club serves to provide a youth drop in service once a week, in term time, for young people aged 11-16. Various activities are provided, including arts and crafts, cooking and baking, and team games and sports. During the past year, the club has maintained an average of 25-30 regular attendees, with a high proportion of Special educational need. The young people who use the club are encouraged to be self governing, and they decide how they spend the funds allocated. This year they have chosen to buy a badge maker, and have consistently spent money on cooking ingredients, and kitchen paraphernalia, as the community kitchen was lacking in some areas. This has led to a greater useability of the kitchen, and a greater user enjoyment.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are the residents of Cranbrook and the young people that reside in the town. The directors of the company are local parents within the town who have good social and professional links to the town and its residents. When we first set up as an independent Youth Service we consulted with the Town Council, to ensure we were providing a service the felt was appropriate and began a “drop in” model which has seen great success. We also consulted heavily with the young people using the service, running workshops to find out what they felt the need was, and what sort of club they wanted. Resounding the young people answered with the following: “We need a space to learn to cook, and we need to run around more, we don’t get enough time to just run around and be ourselves. We want to paint and draw as well, because there is no time at school.”

Directors' remuneration

Rebecca Smith’s yearly salary is: £3610.36 for a total of 234 hours. Rebecca initially worked as a volunteer until the CIC was up and running, and the total cost of her salary for the year ending 30/11/23 totalled £2483.18. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed
