The CIC has worked with North Somerset Council to clear the 33,000 tons of mud that had been left to fill Weston's Marine Lake by demonstrating that the community really wanted to have the Lake fully useable again. Repair of the sluice gates, the dredging of the lake and subsequent re-use by the RNLI as a training feature as well as significant use of the beach during the summer months and lake throughout the year has been extremely well received. Lifeguard training has been undertaken, a defibrillator installed and a drinking water fountain purchased.
Maintained good relationships with North Somerset Council, Weston Town Council, the Mayor, Weston Civic Society, the RNLI, RLSS, Coastguard and residents of Weston-super-Mare by friendly social media, maintaining a useful website, keeping the lake and lake surroundings clear of litter and assisting at events held at the Lake.
