We carried out the following activities during the financial year, 2022-2023. The activities have benefitted the community in the following ways.Refurbishment of the community hall (Aston PavilionFirst we started the refurbishment of the community hall (Aston Pavilion) which started in March 2022 and completed in October 2022.The centre is now available for community use and carry out a variety of programmes, which helped to develop a strong sense of community and foster social relations. This encouraged local community and other local organizations to work together and enhance community involvement. The community has been able to use for community gatherings, training, multi-religious and sports events.Holiday activities and food programme (HAF programme)/Winter programmeWe launched holiday activities and food programme (HAF programme) from 1st August 2022 to 19th August 2022. 58 children participated in this activity. 47 children took part for the winter programme which was launched from 19th to 22nd December 2022. We supported to children who were in receipt of free school meals through holiday periods.There were a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to keep everyone engaged, along with free breakfast snacks and lunch. Activities included arts and crafts, football coaching, archery, outdoor badminton, tennis, cricket, rounders, painting and board games.HAF programme had a positive impact on children and young people as follows: provided easily accessible leisure activities.engaged in physical activities and improved health & wellbeingchildren (and parents) involved in extra-curricular activitiesused local partnerships and connections, particularly with the voluntary and community organisations improved skills of children and learn new things.3.Educational tripsWe organised two trips to Cadbury World, Think Tank and Star City in August and December 2022. There was a high demand for these trips, 40 children participated in these trips. These trips improved the knowledge of the children and helped to get active, learn and explore new things. Stay and play scheme.Aston Pavilion CIC, in collaboration with the Sport Birmingham launched ‘stay and play scheme. This programme targeted little children people aged 3-6. Twenty children participated every Thursdays for two hours.Stay and Play programmes provided essential support to families who cannot afford for childcare. This programme helped to socialise and share ideas with others families while the children enjoyed play and learning opportunities with peers of similar ages.
The stakeholders of the company are participants of the programmes, in particular children and their parents. We have conducted individual semi-structured interviews with both the parents (10 numbers) and children (10 numbers) in March 2022. We identified their requirements in relation to the leisure & recreational facilities. Accordingly, we identified the community programmes according to the requests and comments/feedback given by the children and parents.We have used feedback forms, focus group discussions and online surveys to consult the local residents and third sector organisations. We also have kept a ‘suggestion box’ to get the feedback of the service users.
