Company activities and impact

Overview:Make It Happen Parents CIC serves as the strategic parent carer forum in Westminster, providing a vital platform for parent carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Our activities during the financial year have been focused on advocacy, support, and the empowerment of parent carers, thereby directly benefiting the community we serve.Key Activities and Their Impact:1- Advocacy and Representation:We have actively represented the voices of parent carers in Westminster by participating in local government consultations, strategic planning meetings, and educational panels. This has ensured that the concerns and needs of parent carers are considered in decision-making processes, leading to more inclusive policies and services that benefit both the families and the wider community.2- Support and Resources:Throughout the year, we have organised over 43 workshops, information sessions, and peer support groups tailored to the needs of parent carers. These activities have provided essential guidance on navigating the complex systems of care and education, reducing the isolation that many parent carers experience, and fostering a stronger, more informed community.3- Training and Development:We have offered training programs for parent carers to develop their skills in advocacy, leadership, and self-care. Some of our free training was also offered to professionals working within the SEND sector. These programs have empowered individuals to take on more active roles within the community, leading to increased participation in local initiatives and improved outcomes for their families.4- Collaborative Projects:Partnering with local schools, healthcare providers, and other community organisations, we have launched several projects aimed at improving access to services and resources for families of children with SEND.These collaborations have strengthened community ties and led to the development of more comprehensive support networks within Westminster.5- Raising Awareness:We have conducted awareness campaigns to highlight the challenges faced by parent carers and their families. These efforts have increased understanding and empathy within the broader community, promoting a more inclusive and supportive environment for all residents. Conclusion:The activities of Make It Happen Parents CIC during this financial year have significantly benefited the Westminster community. By advocating for parent carers, providing essential support and resources, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, we have contributed to a more inclusive and resilient community.
