Our 2nd year of delivery saw us build and expand on the strong foundation established in year one. With the generous support of North Lanarkshire Council and the Baillie Gifford Foundation we were able to sustain our flagship project Made With Intent, and add new project Make Stew and Mend. Both have a focus on self sufficiency, waste reduction and doing more with less, and both attracted diverse groups of participants and volunteers who clearly benefited from the social bonding of the activities and the building of skills. Following the success of creating sustainable decor for 2 music festivals in 2022 we looked set to build on this with invitations to provide this service at 2 festivals: Doune the Rabbit Hole and MugStock, however sadly both of these events were cancelled. We adapted, pivoting to the development of a range of other items created from abandoned tent materials, including bomber jackets, dog jackets and bum bags. Before the cancellation of MugStock we worked in partnership with them to deliver an impactful event in the community of Crieff, involving young people and their families in creating colourful octopi from reused plastic bottles. As the year came to a conclusion we had just confirmed employment of our first staff, thanks to the generous support of North Lanarkshire Council's Parent Work Placements scheme.
Our initial work was informed by a pre-launch community survey which revealed the need for activities for adults, and a keen desire to be involved in sustainable activities. Our projects have evolved but stayed true to these. We have consulted with existing participants (both at point of registration and informally during sessions) to determine their interests, ambitions, and logistical constraints. Based on the feedback gathered, we extended the length of our days in order to accommodate those who can only attend in evenings. This year saw us become much more connected to and aware of the other 3rd sector organisations operating in our community and we began to cross-refer participants to each other's respective services and projects.
Director Leigh Watson was paid a total of £6,339.87 for services delivered as a freelance Network Coordinator. No directors received any pay or benefit purely for fulfilling their roles as CIC directors.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
