The Joy in Simple CIC provides wellbeing programmes, storybooks for families and children and a digital App. The Love Me Programme, offered at LiveWell Kew, a pioneering social prescribing centre, has inspired and encouraged over 100 women to date in SW London. It seeks to provide an opportunity for women who may be struggling financially, dealing with illness, experiencing low moods, depression, a family breakdown or bereavement, managing life a full-time carers and more, to enhance their wellbeing. It utilises a broad range of evidence-based strategies and activities to enhance wellbeing and help prevent mental health problems arising by reducing stress and anxiety, increasing positive emotions, improving individual resilience, confidence and self-worth.Each 6 week programme block includes calming breathing and stretching combining TP Pilates, uplifting dance movement (copying simple movements), inspirational crafting (including marbling, origami and block printing), sustainable styling, life coaching, encouraging nutritional recommendations, daily mini wellbeing messages and more.It joins community members together to create one enriched programme package. Susie Bush-Ramsey, Emma Chrispin, Red Gibbons-Lee, Rachel Green, Mollie Myers-Del have over 100 years experience enhancing wellbeing in various creative ways. Here they collectively share to impact the community they feel passionate about.Over the course of 6 weeks the programme offers hints, tips, and points to consider, along with actions that can be taken to prompt change along with an overview of 7 interconnected elements, which, when synchronized, can create a path for life to flow freely -1 Breathing Fully (Breathing)2 Quietening my Mind (Thinking)3 Managing my Emotions (Feeling)4 Using my Words Powerfully (Speaking)5 Being Thankful and Kind (Giving)6 Minimalising my Materialism (Prioritising)7 Exercising and Refuelling Purposefully (Restoring)The programme is based on the principles of a digital wellbeing programme (lovemeprogramme.com), accompanying handbook, and an illustrative story book entitled "You’re so amazing" (lovemeprogramme.com children). The content has been adapted to appeal specifically to women.
The stakeholders for the company include the local community, the facilitators and participants.In order to determine the original structure of the programme and our resources, we spent time researching local reports, statistics and speaking to local community groups and individuals.We collect case studies and quotes from participants upon the completion of the programme. Videos are also a tool we've also used, such as the one featured on: www.lovemeprogramme.com/programme. This year we sought advice from Mick Cooper, Professor of Psychology at the University of Roehampton, and worked alongside a Consultant, Jill Hankock, to determine the best way to measure the impact the pro-gramme was having. We have subsequently opted for the Warwick Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (long-er version), the Brief Resilient Coping Scale, and the Perceived Stress Scale to use pre (at the start of Week 1) and post programme (at the end of Week 6). Examples of changes we’ve made this year as a result of consulting our stakeholders: After kindly assisting with the pilot and the first block of the programme, the personal workload for the person delivering the cro-chet increased substantially and she was really stretched for time. Following careful consideration, based on feedback we’d received that some of the participants had found crocheting a little challenging, we felt it im-portant to diversify and simplify the activities on offer, to ensure the programme appealed to a broad range of women.In June, we introduced block-printing and origami with Fine Artist, Red Gibbons-Lee. The crafts shared by Red (and also Susie at times), are beautiful in their simplicity – Not only have these sessions helped quieten the minds of the participants, as they become fully engaged in the activity, but they have also provided a real sense of satisfaction in a short space of time for the women who’ve created a drawstring and/or lavender bag and paper flowers to take home or give as a gift (Participants are encouraged to put the lavender bags they’ve created under their pil-lows during Week 1 to help them put in to practise, Step 1, Breathing Fully). We also introduced Trigger Point Pilates with Women’s Health Specialist Lydia Campbell, to help participants dis-cover ways to release myofascia that may have built up in their bodies over time as a result of stress. We felt this activity nicely complimented the Dance and Breathe & Stretch elements of the programme already in place, how-ever also provided another alternative way to enhance wellbeing.In December, we piloted, a new follow-on Oasis Hour, for those participants who wanted to continue enhancing their wellbeing and to meet socially for 1 hour on a Friday lunchtime. The aim for introducing these additional ses-sions (Dance, Breathe and Stretch, Pilates, Crafts, Inspirational Wellbeing on rotation) was to create a sense of community and a safe space for participants to feel relaxed, refreshed and re-energised each week. The pilot was a success and the Oasis Hour is now running for the third time (including the pilot) and now features a Mini Stylist and Pamper session on Week 3 to boost confidence further.
Directors remuneration of £4,376 was paid during the year for provision of services.
