The Empowering People in Communities (EPIC) Project CIC is a not for profit making organisation the principal act being to provide HAF (Holiday Activity and Food) programme within the West Midlands area. Encouraging a healthy lifestyle for pupils from a disadvantaged background to take part in physical and fun activities during school holidays including the provision of a healthy meal.During the financial year up to 30 November 2023 the CIC’s activities have benefited the community by providing a 4 week Holiday Activity and Food programme (HAF) during summer holiday for children within Walsall.The aims of the programme or the children who attended are to:eat healthily over the school holidaysbe active during the school holidays - take part in activities which support their development and wider educational attainmentbe safe and not to be socially isolated4 weeks were provided from Walsall College2 weeks were provided from Darlaston Town Football Club4 days Go-Karting and laser quest and 4 days of Golfing were provided using local businesses.During the 4 week period over 300 children attended the programme on multiple days and we provided food for over 1,000 children for that period. Food was sourced locally using from local businesses.The quality assurance assessment from Walsall Council gave us excellent in the areas of quality of food provided and quality of enrichment activities available and a good assessment for food education. We received an overall excellent assessment.The programme provided part time employment for several people in the local area supporting our local community.
The Company’s stakeholders were the parents and their children who were aged between 5 to 16 and eligible for benefit-related free school meals in Walsall.All children attending the HAF programme and their parent/guardians were asked to complete a short questionnaire asking their opinion of the service provided and any suggestions for improvement for future programmes.Staff working on the programmes were also encouraged to provide their feedback which were taken into account when planning future programmes.
No remuneration was received
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
