Thousands of victims receive free monthly support through a Zoom call. A dedicated Facebook community also provides a safe space for victims to connect and share their concerns. Police training and survivor-led speaking engagements have played a crucial role in helping law enforcement better understand the victim's perspective, with potential for further improvements. Nina Aouilk, the co-founder, has effectively raised awareness on social media, reaching service members and spreading valuable information.
To ensure effective decision-making and planning for the forthcoming year, several consultations with stakeholders are essential:Consultation with Stakeholders:Engage with victims, community leaders, and law enforcement through the existing Facebook community and Zoom calls. Gather their input on needs, priorities, and how best to address the challenges they face, including the expansion of in-person meetings.Collaborate with experts in the field, including survivors, to gain deeper insights into the psychological and social aspects of honour killings, enabling the creation of more impactful awareness campaigns.Fundraising for In-Person Meetings:Develop a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes crowdfunding campaigns, partnerships with businesses, grant applications, and leveraging social media platforms to raise awareness and funds.Emphasise the urgency of holding in-person community meetings to provide direct support to victims and foster a stronger, more connected community. Highlight the importance of these meetings in spreading awareness about honor killings and facilitating face-to-face collaboration.Raising Awareness about Honour Killings:Plan a series of public awareness campaigns, both online and offline, to educate communities about the horror of honour killings. This can include social media campaigns, webinars, and collaboration with influencers to amplify the message.Organise events and speaking engagements featuring survivors and experts to shed light on the issue, focusing on prevention and support mechanisms.Travel and Collaboration Plans:Coordinate travel plans to meet and collaborate with global non-profits that share a common mission. This can include attending international conferences, engaging in knowledge exchange, and forming alliances to tackle the issue on a global scale.Seek partnerships with these organisations to create joint campaigns, share resources, and amplify each other's efforts.Expanding Social Media Presence:Invest in creating high-quality content that resonates with diverse audiences, including videos, infographics, and survivor stories.Utilise analytics to identify key demographics and tailor content to reach wider audiences.Engage with followers regularly, creating a dynamic and interactive community that can drive further awareness and support.By focusing on these areas, we can ensure a strategic approach to addressing honour killings, enhancing support for victims, and expanding our impact globally.
