Our mission is simple, we want to transform a generation of young people’s wellbeing by providing access, opportunity and vital skills through active learning for a lifetime of healthy living. Active Youth NI delivers fun, innovative physical activity programmes to children and young people. Providing access, opportunity and vital skills for all to transform a generation of young people’s physical, social and mental wellbeing. Our aim is to get more children and young (CYP) people active through our services and our funded programmes will support CYP from deprived areas, rural areas, disabled CYP, and girls. All of whom are least likely to take part in physical activity or have least opportunity to. Having reached over 5,000 children and young people in the last 1.5 years, we have been delighted to have had overwhelmingly positive feedback. 99.6% of our customers said they would recommend us to a friend and the same percentage gave us a 5 out of 5 rating! We have seen equally positive results from participants from our funded programmes with 100% of respondents showing positive outcomes across physical, mental, and social wellbeing markers. We have also had 100% of teachers, community leaders and parents agree that they would love for Active Youth NI to deliver more for their young people. To date, we have delivered almost 50 fully funded Active & Able sessions; supporting more than 100 disabled children and young people to get active through our innovative sessions. We have delivered over 200 fully funded Active for All sessions to children and young people in deprived areas, supporting over 750 children to get active too. 100% of our respondents of our funded programmes have reported that they felt more confident, happy or full of energy after an Active Youth NI session.
Active Youth NI was established in December 2022 and started trading in March 2023. We piloted our proposed services and programmes with external stakeholders; schools and community groups; working closely with young people, their teachers or leaders, and their parents to co-produce and develop programmes and ensure it met the needs of the people in our area. Active Youth NI has a clear vision, two forward thinking, passionate and effective directors, and seven carefully selected non-executive directors who are subject matter experts, steering the organisation and ensuring we meet our objectives and stay true to our mission whilst bringing benefit to our local community. Our external stakeholders for our paid-for services are parents and guardians (for AYNI Holiday camps and Active Youth Afterschool), schools, councils, companies/organisations (for our physical activity coaching, AYNI Events, and PE Deep Dive), individuals interested in coaching (Coach the Coach) and those who wish to utilise Active Youth NI as their delivery partner. We regularly consult our internal and external stakeholders on any matters relating to our services and programmes, sending out surveys (pre and post activity), conducting feedback sessions during programmes, and asking for reviews throughout. This enables us to act upon any feedback and ensure we are continuing to meet the needs of our community and also working in the most efficient and effective way.
In the year 2023 – 2024; our directors renumeration totalled £36,900. This was split between the two founding directors who led on the delivery of the majority of services and programmes throughout its first year.
