Company activities and impact

Activities: 2022 Starling Sessions plays 3 big gigs in Oxford and partners with OCM, DASH Arts, Asylum Welcome, OCA and TAP Social Tandem works with Green Arts Oxfordshire lead Ellie Monk to produce the Great Big Green Week Launch party in Bonn Square Tandem works with YWMP to produce the Tandem Gathering mini-festival at Florence Park Community Centre. 2023 Starling Sessions expand their activities with Asylum Welcome, reaching clients at the Kassam Hotel Tandem's work this year has been to carry on with our core project delivery and to try and secure future funding for our work, particularly Starling Sessions. Tandem Collective has continued to produce inclusive, innovative and inspiring creative collaborations which engage with environmental and social issues. All our projects find original ways to platform these issues - both in the mode of production and the end result - and inspire people to take action in big and small ways. Our work this year has been focused on: - Connecting with local charities/groups and showcasing the contributions of marginalised groups, especially those with a Refugee focus - Amplifying the voices and creativities of people who don't normally have access to the making of music by building Diversity and Accessibility into our audience and collaborators - Supporting more interdisciplinary work between artists, researchers and the community for action on environmental issues - Strengthening Oxford's cultural scene by fostering a local creative collective and becoming a producing banner under which many different creative projects or ideas can find a home - Offering an inclusive, creative platform for grassroots gigs, jams, skillshares and community. Projects Tandem has a radical, environment-first approach to production. We design projects from a starting point of working within sustainable boundaries rather than mitigating and compensating or off-setting our impact afterwards. Reduce, reuse, and recycle has always been Tandem's mantra and this will continue to be an integral part of our approach to project creation moving forwards. Tandem is working in line with Oxford City Council's Oxford to Zero pledge to make Oxford a zero carbon city by 2030 or earlier. Tandem is an Oxford Green Arts Charter signatory, follows the Industry Green framework and aims to make all of its activities carbon neutral or carbon negative by 2030. As a Community Action Group (CAG), Tandem has environmentalism and sustainability built into our organisational DNA. We have continued to engage with, learn from and support our partners in the CAG network by giving them a platform to celebrate and showcase their innovative work and a network of creative partners to collaborate with. Tandem has continued to engage communities, creatives and audiences in the conversation about the climate emergency and inspire them to consider what change looks like. In doing this, Tandem aims to democratise the dialogue around climate change and make it accessible to all.
