  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods have transferred to the buyer. Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs.

Company activities and impact

Sahara CIC offered Support has an equality and diversity policy in place which identifies the rights of the young person to receive an appropriate service that aims to meet their individual needs regardless of their gender, race, nationality, sexuality, disability, class or religion (Equality Act 2010). Our team reflect the local community which is ethnically and culturally diverse. Young people were supported regarding their individual cultural needs and any identified issues or areas of need. Young people were encouraged to avoid being discriminatory towards others. We welcome young people with disabilities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Consultation obtained for Promoting the maintenance of the young person’s normal social networks and social activities, as it is important. The young person’s support plan includes a facility for recording the life history, social networks and contacts, and preferences for activities and hobbies in order that staff are aware of this and the young person is offered access to those networks and activities which are appropriate and required. Young people are encouraged to engage in recreational activities outside the home. This includes encouraging the young person to access sporting, leisure and cultural activities, joining the gym, swimming. Sport and physical activity are encouraged as part of the health and well-being which is promoting the process to enable healthy living as well as positive peer group interaction as this will also help them with their developments and engagements away from there comfort zones.
