Company activities and impact

The Company's activities and impacts: Mousehold South Allotment Association has been growing fresh vegetables and salad on our community plot throughout the year, providing fresh produce to our local foodbank, which serves residents in the area surrounding the allotment site. The Association has invited several local wildlife groups and societies to carry out wildlife surveys on the site, including bats, hawks, insects, butterflies and moths, to determine the biodiversity we have on site. We are in the process of gathering information for our plot holders and surrounding neighbours about what we can do to help our existing wildlife and further improve the biodiversity of the site and surrounding area. The Association has been busy this year building a shed and workshop area where, once complete, we will be providing workshops to the plot holders and the local school community, giving people the opportunity to make animal habitats and attend talks relating to wildlife and growing your own produce. With help from a charity grant we have been able to install a sustainable composting toilet on site to serve our plot holders and visitors when we get our workshops and talks up and running.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have 3 directors of the CIC who also serve as the main committee for the association, all of which are voted in by the members. The committee must agree on any actions taken. The members are informed via regular newsletters, Facebook updates, information boards on site. All member are invited to quarterly meetings and are consulted on any decisions before they are carried out. All plot holders, including non-members are invited to attend meetings, to encourage wider community participation.
