Hay Pride has run its second full day Pride event in June 2023. The day consisted of a family friendly daytime event, very much focused on community inclusion and an evening cabaret event for adults, including comedy, queer drag performers and music. Additional to the actual pride events there have been get togethers, social meet ups and consultation events. The community has benefitted from Hay Pride’s work through visibility and inclusion. It’s been an opportunity for particularly young people in the area to experience queer culture and solidarity which rarely occurs outside of urban environments.
Our stakeholders are anyone who identifies with being part of the LGBTQ+ community in Hay-on-Wye and surrounding geographical location. We have carried out surveys and feedback consultations and several points during our events. This feedback has been used to shape the future of the organisation, primarily by informing how we carry out our work going forward.
