We teach people about nature and in doing so provide opportunities for communities to come together, share ideas and collaborate. In Hackney, we do this in a number of different ways, but our core activity is to support community gardening throughout the borough. We provide opportunities for at sites across the borough working in partnership with local groups including community centers, housing associations, the council, schools and other voluntary/charitable organisations. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to engage creatively in the natural world that surrounds them. Our projects are focused on connecting communities with nature and the environment to develop values that promote respect for both people and planet.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the summer period of 2023 a surgery was taken with local stakeholders through our classes and open sessions. Stakeholders were asked to provide feedback on current provision as well as future provision of community classes and on going gardening sessions. This information was used to inform future planning for 2024 provision and funding applications. It also allowed us to offer joint classes this year with the Woodshop of Recycled Delights CIC in our managed growing space in Victoria Park.
