COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ROMA ACCESS NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE ASSOCIATION C.I.C.

Company Number: 11699887 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 November 2023

Company activities and impact

Our community interest company provides services for our customers mainly in the West End of Newcastle. We are supporting our beneficiaries through advice on pre-settlement and settled status, immigration, and support sessions for people struggling with language Levier in accessing bask services and agencies. We organized an event for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights where many organizations and campaign groups were given the opportunity- to voice their campaigns and activities. We organized weekly youth activities for the most deprived youth categories where they could socialize and learn new skills. The activities were very successful and one of the most important activities was a youth exchange in Romania where our youngsters had the opportunity to meet other young people from a different country. The event was a great success. We have organized the Holocaust Memorial Day where together with different organizations and stakeholders we commemorated the victims of the Holocaust and raised awareness among younger generations of the horrific time in history and the actions needed to be taken so this won't ever happen again. We have provided support for the elderly and vulnerable people in our communities and we help them go out and about, assisted shopping sessions, car rides to appointments, and other important travel and support with domestic activities. Our work focuses on the Roma community but is not exclusive. We support every ethnic group such as Asian, White British, African, or any other ethnic or minority background.

Consultation with stakeholders

Local community -our main stakeholder is the local community. We organized meetings with the community groups once every three months. During the meetings, we discuss our activities to date, future activities, and priorities. Our stakeholders inform us about the support needs of the community and what are the best ways to make our activities more efficient. Volunteers -We have a group of volunteers that help or deliver our activities and they provide us with feedback on the experience within the community and the needs they have noticed during their volunteering activities. Partner organisations-we are in dose connection with other similar organizations and we work closely to maximize our impact. We partnered with other organizations when we organized the Human Rights Celebration event and Holocaust Memorial Day. The events were great successes and strengthen our partnership with other organizations in our area.
