FUN4US CIC was formally established on 27/07/2021. We are a local community group targeted at the more senior members of our community who are seek to make new friendships in a safe and supportive environment with the aim of improving the negative impacts of loneliness, isolation and consequential poor mental/physical health; the overriding aim of the group is to find friendship and have fun! The Group is inclusive and welcomes all adults regardless of age, gender, ethnic background or ability (anyone with care needs are invited to attend with their carers provided their needs can be met within the group). Between 10 to 15 people have regularly attended the group each week between September 2023 and July 2024. FUN4US is totally dependent on donations, fundraising and charity applications to meet its operating costs; a small voluntary donation is requested each week from anyone attending but no one is excluded if they are unable to contribute. What makes the group different and attractive to its members is the vast range of activities provided which enables people to feel involved and to which they can bring their own talents and skills, e.g. knitting, painting, various crafts, talks and presentations. FUN4US operate from a rented space within The Bridge Chapel Centre (which is a community centre); it is open for 4 hours each Monday afternoon during school term time. During the financial year 2023/2024 the group’s activities benefited the community in the following ways: Our members include people with physical disabilities and mental health difficulties, there are people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds with a range of ages and abilities and the diversity of the group has been welcomed by all of its members. Group members or guests have done demonstrations (e.g. flower arranging, seasonal crafts/decorations, talks on various topics, e.g. health & nutrition, personal stories, mindfulness. This has contributed significantly to people’s self-esteem and self-worth especially amongst our more senior members who felt able to make a valuable and worthwhile contribution or they have learned things to help to improve their health, mental health or lifestyle. A Christmas party was held on 4th December 2023 for all members and supporters of FUN4US. Many members live alone and are isolated and this enabled them to attend celebrations with their friends in a party atmosphere, some of whom have not been able to do so for many years. A party was held on 15/7/2024 to celebrate the end of term; a buffet was provided and supporters were invited to join in our end of year celebration. Crafts are provided each week; crafts made by the group are sold at fundraising events, such as table sales, raising much needed funds to enable the group to continue operating with the added benefit that members feel valued by being able to make a positive contribution to the group. A number of games days have been held promoting positive interaction within the group. Sing-a-long sessions have been held with a local band providing the entertainment. Other groups (including disability groups) that use The Bridge Chapel centre have been included in special events organised by FUN4US which have been greatly welcomed
