Company activities and impact

Successes- RYM successfully did their showcase on March 27th 2023 at the Fairfield Halls located in East Croydon. The atmosphere was great, filled with family, friends, young people and the community. The RYM young people worked hard to ensure they were ready for the showcase in the sessions supported by the RYM team ensuring that the young people were ready to perform i.e confidence, wellbeing, dancing ability. The young people had a really good time and had a sense of achievement. RYM managed to bring in professional dancers this term that have experience with working with young people and are in the dancing industry. Teaching them what it is like outside the RYM club for those members who want to take dance further as a career , they also help create routines for the young people exposing them to different styles and techniques in dance. The bi-weekly Reality Of My Life session remains at the BME Forum for all RYM members to attend. The aim of this program is to sharpen the understanding of young people about life factors, giving them a safe space to discuss and share everyday life challenges they may face. Enabling young people to speak their mind. supported by youth workers. leading them towards making better decisions and outcomes, through discussions. Some of the topics included: -How the young people feel about their Exams/GCSES- how they are preparing for it- grades, expectations etc. Communication: communicating issues in a respectable manner etc - Healthy relationships: ensuring the young person is happy and not feeling peer pressured into doing anything etc. - How the young people feel about the upcoming showcase in regards to their confidence especially for the new members that will be their first time. and their expectations and ideas for the showcase. Throughout the 2022-2023 The young people have been involved in community events, partnering up with other youth organisations around Croydon, I.e Croydon Town Hall, Crystal Palace Football Stadium, Croydon Whitgift Centre. RYM opened throughout the summer holiday giving the young people the chance to learn dances in their spare time. RYM performed at Crystal Palace Football Stadium in June 2023 event called Cut It Out where the young people participated in a knife crime community awareness event encouraging young people to not get influenced into that lifestyle to help reduce knife crime in Croydon. RYM officially closed at the end of August 2023

Consultation with stakeholders

R.Y.M, we participate in weekly community meetings held in Croydon, this allows us to understand the thoughts and needs of the community. Importantly, this platform allows for the voice of the young person to be heard. Thus, raising awareness and helping to create targeted solutions. We aim to capture community voice through conducting video/questionnaires from R.Y.M members, our funders, and local partners. We also conduct polls on social media to engage local members and gain insight on our services. R.Y.M hosts dance shows at local family friendly venues, where we provide a platform for the various local talents and Croydon vendors, thus supporting the community businesses.
