Active F.I.T.S general activities through the financial year 2023/24 has included 2 funded community football projects for children and young people. The first project funded by national lottery focused on providing after school fully funded football places to children between the ages of 12-16. These sessions allowed children who did not previously engage in sport to, take part, grow confidence, become physically fit, socialise with other children new to football and sport in general, and supported parents with a free activity for their children during the cost of living crisis. Providing positive no cost activities to children and young people new to sport removes the financial pressure for parents, whilst facilitating a potential long term passion for the child/young person. It also increases physical activity which is associated with greater physical activity and greater health outcomes later in life. This project also provided a full scholarship on its completion to 3 children/young people so they could continue on their journey with football in an established and registered grassroots football club. The second project has provided free Saturday football fun and also multi sports sessions for children between 8-11 years of age. These fully funded sessions will run for a year focusing on building a positive relationship with football and developing and understanding of the principles behind the game.
Although we have not had an official stakeholders meeting regarding activities of the company, we have quarterly meetings to review the companies expenditures, staffing, coaching practices, project aims and highlights and any other areas to be raised by shareholders. In summary these meetings have found that the shareholders review of the projects for the year 2023/24 has been successful but we seek greater participants in future projects. We therefore intend to implement improved marketing and a social media presence to increase community involvement.
