The organisation runs a variety of community projects that support neurodivergent young people across Rushmoor. The main projects we have run this year include: Neurodiversity Job Club – A club for neurodivergent adults to join while they are trying to find employment. This is run in partnership with our local job centre using a grant from National Lottery Awards for All. We run a weekly training session providing support with CVs, independence skills, job interviews etc. as well as optional 1-1 sessions with a coach over video call. Youth Games Club – A gaming club for young people aged 11-18 (or up to 25 years with SEN) who live in or around Aldershot town centre. This is being run using a grant from the Million Hours Fund. We provide a safe space and free food for young people to socialise over the school holidays, to reduce the number of teens being lured into criminal activity, county lines etc. Neurodiversity Heritage Project – A project run to provide volunteering and work experience to neurodivergent people. We take on neurodivergent volunteers to research historical figures who made a significant contribution to life today, despite being neurodivergent. This research will then be turned into a book that will be distributed to local schools and services. Social events and activities for the local community – We have hosted free social events, craft mornings and more to the local community to reduce isolation and support vulnerable people in building a resilient support network.
All of the projects we have undertaken (listed in part 1) have been in response to a community consultation. When the company was initially formed, we created a steering group of neurodivergent young people and their carers (if applicable). The main two issues raised by the steering group were a lack of social and employment support available for this vulnerable group. As a result, we approached grant funders in order to start these services in the local community. This then formed into our job club and gaming group. We are in the process of setting up a social gaming group for young adults in addition to the youth gaming group currently running following further consultation. We check in regularly with our service users using feedback forms, a shared WhatsApp group, and community surveys/polls to make sure our services are meeting a need in the community. A second group of stakeholders are our local home educator co-op group. We were introduced to this group via our local CVS. This group highlighted a key need for group activities that were cost effective as many of these families are on a reduced household income due to at least one parent needing to stay home to care for the home educated child. As a result of this consultation, we have approached the Arts Council England who are funding a drama club for this group which will begin April 2024. We have set up a social media page for this group, where we regularly poll how they would like services to look, share signposting to other services, and encourage them to join in with project design.
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £7,080. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
