Company activities and impact

Now Play This CiC produced a nine day exhibition and a series of accompanying events for the public, held at Somerset House, The Strand, and Goethe Institut (London). These illustrated the benefit, artistically and holistically, of interactive arts and play for a wide audience of general interest, digital developers, arts practitioners and designers. It brought together over 100 artists from 23 countries to share their experiences with the arts and game communities, disseminating this knowledge sharing through the large scale industry event London Games Festival. In addition, Now Play This CIC produced an educational strand for game makers and artists in partnership with four organisations around the world dedicated to expanding how UK makers think about game design in their practice.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are artists and practitioners who have been involved in Now Play This and have a vested interest in its growth. The directors of the company founded Now Play This as a space for community growth and knowledge sharing, and with the stakeholders advice have grown the company to include a wide community of arts practitioners and game-makers. During the festival and after each event, we asked participants and users of the space to give us feedback on their experience, their typical arts-attendance and habits in the current climate. We use this data to respond to changing attitudes and needs around arts provisions in England, shifting our output to best provide for our stakeholders and wider users. Particular stakeholder-led development has been around accessible, approachable and robust technological structures for our community to continue the conversation around game making and design beyond our physical events, providing a platform for continued growth.
