The French speaking community in Yorkshire an Humber benefits from a school that enables its children to maintain or improve their spoken and written French, to build upon their knowledge of their French culture and encourage linguistic and personal confidence in their bilingual and multicultural identity. La Petite Ecole is a friendly network that encourages families to maintain a relationship with the French language, France and other French speaking countries, that offers practical assistance and support to established and new families in the UK. In the 2021-2022 school year, La Petite Ecole (Leeds) CIC provided 30 Saturday mornings sessions of 2.5hrs to 120 children aged 18mths to 17. Children were grouped into 9 classes and 1 session of an hour available to our 18 mths-3years old pupils. The team was composed of 9 teachers, 16 volunteers teaching assistants, 1 curriculum adviser and 1 director. 1 Director resigned on November 2020 due to relocating to France. This post has not been replaced due to financial challenges related to Covid 19. Since January 2024, we have a freelance education coordinator as well as a new treasurer.
La Petite Ecole is organising regular meetings with parents of the school ( at least 1 per year). We also send survey to collect feedbacks and suggestion to improve the quality of the service we provide and meet our families needs.
