Company activities and impact

In the space provided below, please insert a general account of the company’s activities in the financial year to which the report relates, including a description of how they have benefited the community. Sgiliau CBC provides support to vulnerable young people aged 11 to 24. We have developed 3 projects during 2021-22 to provide support for young people especially those that have been deeply affected by the Covid-19 lockdowns. The continued closure of youth provision that remained delivering a ‘remote’ or ‘distanced’ model of delivery without direct face-to-face contact with young people has provided Sgiliau CBC with a platform to fill this void and provide direct face-to-face youth provision to very vulnerable young people. All 3 projects were very successful and the grant funding from UK Youth for the Thriving Minds project and from Safe Lives for the My Best Friend project will continue until August 2023. The Caerphilly CBC and UK Youth projects were open to all 11- to 24-year-old young people to engage in. The My Best Friend project was specifically for young women, girls and non-binary young people to provide them with safe spaces to engage in a range of activities. All activities we provided in all 3 projects were participatory focusing on a wide range of creative arts and music that we delivered in several centres; Risca, Brynmawr, Abergavenny, Pontypridd and Blaenavon. However, as the projects developed, we reduced the number of centres down to 3 namely, Risca, Brynmawr and Pontypridd. On all 3 projects we accredited activities with awarding bodies to secure qualifications for the young people we engaged. Impact The CCBC Youth Wellbeing project was completed in year and delivered: 60 sessions 150 hours face-to-face delivery sessions Engaged and supported 32 young people Achieved 15 qualifications The other 2 projects were in their development stage during the 2021-22 financial year and their impact in relation to young people engaged will fall into 2022-23

Consultation with stakeholders

Please indicate who the company’s stakeholders are; how the stakeholders have been consulted and what action, if any, has the company taken in response to feedback from its consultations? If there has been no consultation, this should be made clear. Sgiliau CBC consults with stakeholders and examples of this are as follows; Caerphilly County Borough Council for the Youth Wellbeing project in developing the project delivered and in reporting back on the outcomes achieved. UK Youth in the delivery of the Thriving Minds Project in the development and deliver of the project. Also, in developing a year 2 strategy to continue the initiative. SafeLives in the development and delivery of the Your Best Friend project. Young people we engaged and worked with in the delivery of the projects above. We also extensively consulted and promoted the above projects to youth provider networks within Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Abergavenny and Torfaen.
