    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible assets are initially recorded at cost, and subsequently stated at cost less any accumulated depreciation and impairment losses. Any tangible assets carried at revalued amounts are recorded at the fair value at the date of revaluation less any subsequent accumulated depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairment losses. An increase in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of a revaluation, is recognised in other comprehensive income and accumulated in equity, except to the extent it reverses a revaluation decrease of the same asset previously recognised in profit or loss. A decrease in the carrying amount of an asset as a result of revaluation, is recognised in other comprehensive income to the extent of any previously recognised revaluation increase accumulated in equity in respect of that asset. Where a revaluation decrease exceeds the accumulated revaluation gains accumulated in equity in respect of that asset, the excess shall be recognised in profit or loss.

Company activities and impact

Friends of Cymru Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia (FOCSCT) is the only black-disabled women led organisation in Wales, founded specially to support adults and children who live with Sickle Cell Disorder and Thalassaemia Disorder (SCT) and also to support their families and carers. FOCSCT provides a wide range of services to families affected by these disorders which are holistic, person-centred, strength-based, and tailored to each individual's needs and wishes. Our approach has been shaped by the lived experience of Sickle Cell and Thalassemia which our staff and trustees have, and fundamentally takes a social model of disability approach as we understand that it is the barriers which society which puts in place which are the problem, rather than the person with the disability/ health condition. We give our members choice and control over their lives and better access to rights, entitlements, and opportunities. During the financial year 2023-2024, FOCSCTs encouraged continuous verbal or written feedback from our stakeholders, consequently embedding our activities. The feedback assists with the development and direction of this learning organisation.
