The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for: |
(a) | ensuring that the company keeps accounting records which comply with Sections 386 and 387 of the Companies Act 2006 and |
(b) | preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company as at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the company. |

1.1 Basis of preparation |
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the historical cost convention and in accordance with applicable accounting standards, including Financial Reporting Standard 102 - 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland' ("FRS 102") and The Small Companies and Groups (Accounts and Directors' Report) Regulations 2008. |
Disclosure exemptions |
The July 2015 amendments to FRS 102 have been adopted and the relevant disclosure exemptions for small entities taken under section 1A of FRS 102. |
1.2 Turnover |
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. |
Turnover mainly comprises members' subscriptions due, which are recognised once received based on the period to which the subscription relates. Income from events is taken to the income and expenditure account in the year in which the event takes place. |
1.3 Taxation |
Current tax is recognised for the amount of income tax payable in respect of the taxable profit for |
the current or past reporting periods using the tax rates and laws that that have been enacted or |
substantively enacted by the reporting date. |
Deferred tax is provided on the liability method to take account of timing differences between the |
treatment for certain items for accounts purposes and the treatment for tax purposes. Tax |
deferred is accounted for in respect of all material timing differences. Deferred tax assets are |
only recognised to the extent that they are regarded as recoverable. |
Deferred tax is measured at the tax rates that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the |
balance sheet date that are expected to apply to the reversal of the timing difference. |
Where items recognised in other comprehensive income or equity are chargeable to or |
deductible for tax purposes, the resulting current or deferred tax expense or income is presented |
in the same component of comprehensive income or equity as the transaction or other event that |
resulted in the tax expense or income. |
