Company activities and impact

We are SKapade Inspirational Development Solutions, an award-winning Community Interest Company based in purpose built music studios and community hub in our hometown of Dumbarton. SKapade is a Prince's Trust award-winning social enterprise and currently delivers youth training across the Central Belt of Scotland. We work with various youth groups, businesses, schools, colleges, universities and local authorities to deliver an exciting, unique range of workshops, seminars, talks and lessons. We incorporated the CIC in 2016 and already we have become official partners with the Prince's Trust and Young Enterprise Scotland. Our core product and service offering revolves around the electronic dance music sector, but also covers a wide range of topics from motivation and self-confidence right through to events management, social media, DJing and music production, self employment in the creative industries and live performance skills. We work with all age groups but our target demographic is under 30’s from NEET backgrounds. Currently, we directly benefit the following number of people on a monthly basis through our social media and online platforms (please note, these are average figures and sometimes hit well over 250,000 views monthly), SKapade – 90,000 per month, Stephen Kirkwood (personal artist page) - 200,000 per month, Our online community TV channel ‘I Love West Dunbartonshire’ – 80,000 per month Online exposure aside, we have directly reached over 6000 young people through our talks and workshops with schools and local authorities across the country within the past 12 months. We are growing our popular podcast ‘The SKapade Show’, which is our means of broadcasting our ethos, our services and bringing fantastic content/guests on a creative, popular platform. We have seen this by studying the analytics and have reached the eyes of over 350,000 eyes alone from one of our popular live streams on social media. By building our Youtube channel and social media platforms we have seen some opportunities from companies such as Pioneer and Monkey Banana (two of the industry’s biggest sound companies) who have sponsored us and we are now in discussions for affiliation and distribution of their product. Recently, we hosted big creative industry influential personalities, such as Gavin Oattes of Tree of Knowledge, plus Sanjeev Kohli AKA Navid from Still Game. The team will continue to grow and diversify through the various types of work we get involved with. We are already seeing early workshop attendees and volunteers now being paid for some of the community projects we are running. This is a huge outcome for us and we want to very much continue on this path. For example, we have numerous volunteers (expenses paid) who work in our team and were beneficiaries of our programmes: Volunteer (Reiss) - market research and admin work, as well as marketing activities and implementation of marketing events, Volunteer (Iain) - takes care of all our social media and online platforms - ensuring we manage our online following and attend to all prospective and existing clients, Volunteer (Craig) - manages our graphic design and our weekly live stream shows , Volunteer (Jack) - takes care of our IT and programming on the website and other platforms
