Principal activities of the company

Over the course of the year we have run 156 volunteering sessions lasting a duration of 6 hours per session. Our volunteers come from marginalised groups and they choose to volunteer to improve their wellbeing through connection to community and nature. During the year we have attracted 54 volunteers with an average of 29 volunteers who volunteer weekly. Some of these volunteers attend several times a week and in total our volunteers have given 5715 voluntary hours to the improvement and development of a community space. We have evaluated our volunteering impact through volunteer feedback forms 98% of our volunteers report increase in feelings of happiness and contentment through the volunteering. 84% report a decrease in feelings of anxiety and 76% have state that they feel less socially isolated. Over the year our volunteers have had a massive physical impact on the park they have created 10 community veg beds to encourage growing and healthy eating. They have created three large composting areas in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the community and create goof soil for growing. We have been working on creating a circular economy so that no green waste leaves the site which both saves money and has a massive ecological benefit. Community and police feedback states that the park feels safer and more widely used with fewer instances of serious antisocial behaviour. Our organisation has widened its associations this year providing volunteering for and working with local colleges, schools and nurseries, support services, voluntary sector services and mental health services . We are a now on the green social prescribing directory for North Somerset. We have tried to widen our impact on the wellness of the community by hosting community events, coffee mornings, art workshops and exercise classes in the park. We have run 37 classes/workshops/events in the course of the year and we have had 1371 people in attendance over the course of the year. All of these events were offered to the wider community free of charge and were funded by grants, This has encouraged a greater number of people and other organisations to use Grove Park and get outside and active. CONSULTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS The stakeholders of the company are local residents who use the park and our services, other local organisations working with marginalised groups who use our services, local schools and colleges. We have held open meetings,we consult the management of other organisations to make sure that we tailor our activities to meet the specific needs of their service users insuring that our practices are inclusive. We consult the community continually through social media regarding any physical projects in the park and we have an open and communicative relationship with the general public who come into our yard and speak to use regularity about what they think and feel about the park. We always take feedback from events and activities and use it to inform our activity.
