COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

LITTLE TINKLERS C.I.C.

Company Number: 05055248 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 30 April 2024

Company activities and impact

The company operates two Ofsted-registered pre-school nurseries in Corbridge and Ponteland, with the latter having opened during the 2017 financial year within the Children’s Centre. The opening of the new Ponteland nursery has enabled the company to grow substantially during the last five years. Moreover, it has helped to meet local demand for childcare, and to secure the future of the Children’s Centre which had previously been threatened with closure. The prospect of closure was met with considerable opposition by the local community, and the launch of the new nursery means that key services for parents are now able to continue to operate at the centre as before. Little Tinklers provides a service to the local communities, catering for parents who work full and part time, rota shifts and those who need wrap around care from our partner schools and settings. We support parents returning to work through 30hr funded places, as well as offering childcare to students with families, those on low income and social service placements. We work closely with other schools, settings, health professionals, etc. to offer excellent standards of care for each child with dedicated key workers, personalised learning journals and broad and rich activities and experiences for each child. We have built excellent links with our local area, particularly nearby residential care homes, where we make regular visits with our children to share meaningful experiences, our local church where children learn about our community spirit through messy Church and the annual Christmas tree festival. We also have developed our own ‘secret woods’ with support from ‘Teaching Trees’ which the children access regularly to enhance their learning. Little Tinklers has strong links with our local authority. We work together to provide equal access to resources and experiences available for children who use the settings as well as all children in Centres the focal community, through hosting regular stay and play sessions with planned activities and useful information, weekly baby group sessions for parents to meet, chat to health professionals and access support, prominent displays with information about local services such as parenting classes, life Skills, first aid, cookery. etc as well as termly leaflets for all parents to access ‘what’s on’. We were also involved in a number of community events throughout the 2023/24 year, such as running the creche at the Northumberland show, supporting our local food banks and litter picking with the green party.
