Over the last year We Belong Here has been dedicated to working with the community through the following projects : Gecko Arts Club: Ran a creative summer program for 10-17-year-olds in Armley, Bramley, and Kirkstall, featuring activities like dance, poetry, and visual arts. This engaged young people in artistic expression, fostering creativity and strengthening community connections. The Gelder Rose Mural: Created a 75-meter-long mural with local youth in Armley. This large-scale artwork promotes youth involvement in community activism and serves as a visual call to action, showcasing the impact and creativity of young people. PPG Industries Partnership: Delivered 4 murals at Birstall Primary School with over 50 volunteers. The vibrant murals enhanced the school environment, reflected its values, and fostered a sense of pride and community among students and staff. Burmantofts Community Friends: Co-created a mural for their community room, adding colour and artistic representation. The mural enriched the space by reflecting the organisation’s heritage and values, benefiting older community members by enhancing their environment. Support for Tina Shingler: Designed and created a website, branding, and social media for an independent black writer. This support improved her media presence and accessibility, aiding her creative pursuits and increasing her visibility in the creative community.
