Year Ending: 31 December 2023

Company activities and impact

2023 continued to see changes in the focus of Growing Better Lives. We recruited two new directors to the Board April and June 2023. This was to broaden our capacity for delivering on our key aims which have developed more along lines of consultancy, support and supervision for therapeutic services rather than delivering our own services. Our training focus has grown in supporting more overseas work, with new relationships formed with services in Canada and the United States in addition to our ongoing work with organisations in Europe and India. The changes in the structure of Growing Better Lives has enabled us to embrace new, long term, projects including collaboration with national organisations Cygnet, TCTC, BIGSPD, Soteria London, Hope in the Heart and the Relational Practice Movement. All of these will benefit our communities by reducing social exclusion and increasing therapeutic opportunities to become involved in a variety of activities that are not available within statutory provision.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are people, across all diversities, living with psychosocial difficulties and the individuals and communities supporting them. We have links with the Institute of Mental Health (University of Nottingham), with Mulberry Bush 3rd Space (a charity with similar principles to Growing Better Lives), and a network of various international charitable groups. This is in line with our aim of working towards the development of a wider network of groups involved in delivering comparable therapies, working with Greencare or providing services for similar populations. Our board of directors is comprised 50% ex- service users and feedback from service users (via discussion groups) has been vital to help inform the development of our therapeutic services.
