COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

BEDFORD AMATEUR REGATTA C.I.C.

Company Number: 11383926 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2023

Company activities and impact

The company was formed to take over organisation and operation of the annual one day rowing racing event known as Bedford Amateur Regatta from former "Bedford Regatta Committee" with effect from 1st January 2019. In 2023 our 158th Bedford Amateur Regatta was originally set to take place as normal on Saturday 6th May but as this was King Charles 111 Coronation Day we moved it to Sunday 7th May. We hailed it as a "Coronation Regatta " awarding specially engraved commemorative winners tankards and the whole event was strongly attended by Rowing Clubs, Universities, and Schools. Overall a successful well run full day sporting event through the middle of Bedford Town and a great spectacle for towns folk and supporters The Accounts for year ended 31/12/2023 reflect another positive financial performance with a net surplus of £1204 before corporation tax , helping to secure the continuity of the event into the future.

Consultation with stakeholders

In 2023 the Regatta took place on Sunday 7th May ( the day after King Charles 111 Coronation) . As normal considerable planning has to be undertaken requiring contact with stakeholders as follows :- - Bedford Borough Council re usage of public areas along the river over the 1200 metres racing course and more particularly the renowned Embankment and Suspension Bridge (finish line ) areas . - British Rowing Organisation with whom our event is affiliated and whose rules of racing we operate under. - The local and whole broader rowing community who provide competitiors , umpires, marshals , and helpers .
