  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Revenue recognition Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable for goods supplied and services rendered, net of discounts and Value Added Tax. Revenue from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership have transferred to the buyer (usually on despatch of the goods); the amount of revenue can be measured reliably; it is probable that the associated economic benefits will flow to the entity; and the costs incurred or to be incurred in respect of the transactions can be measured reliably.

    Other accounting policies

    Basis of preparation The financial statements have been prepared on the historical cost basis, as modified by the revaluation of certain financial assets and liabilities and investment properties measured at fair value through profit or loss. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the entity. Company limited by guarantee The company is limited by guarantee and hence has no share capital. The liability of each member is limited to £1, being the amount that each member undertakes to contribute to the assets of the company in the event of its being wound up while he/she is a member or within one year after he or she ceases to be a member.

Company activities and impact

The company's activities benefited the community where the Festival takes place as well as supporting local businesses, musicians, artists and facilitators of creative work shops from across the Tees Valley and beyond. Wintertide Festival CIC brings the streets to life, illuminating and animating public spaces to engage, inspire and spark curiosity. All activities inform our programme which consists of an opening parade, music performances, creative workshops, art market, carnival, art trail and fireworks. Through partnership working Wintertide Festival CIC supports local businesses, historical sites and small traders through promotion, opportunity to trade and bringing new audiences to the area. The Festival encourages community cohesion, promoting a joined up approach across sectors.

Consultation with stakeholders

Main events include year round projects linking with education establishments, residents and community groups.

Directors' remuneration

Total directors remuneration paid in the year amounts to £18,000.
