Balance sheet statements

For the year ending 31 December 2023 the company was entitled to exemption under section 477 of the Companies Act 2006 relating to small companies.

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Income and expenses are included in the financial statements as they become receivable or due. Expenses include VAT where applicable as the company cannot reclaim it.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

    Tangible fixed assets are initially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of depreciation and any impairment losses. Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their useful lives on the following bases: Computers: 33% of cost

Company activities and impact

We have produced several theatre productions, projects, and performances for young children and families, over half of which have taken place in community settings including museums, libraries, school and community centres. Many of these have been provided free of charge or at a heavily subsidised cost to make our work as accessible as possible for our target audiences.

Consultation with stakeholders

We've collaborated with 12 different organisations from across the UK in order to produce new commissions, participation projects and develop new work. These include: Z-arts The Story Museum The Met, Bury Tiny Ideas Festival Sidmouth Toy and Model Museum Sidmouth Folk Festival Wonder Arts Manchester City of Literature The Spark Arts Big Imaginations We have taken our work to 43 different venues. Over half these venues were in areas identified by Arts Council England as either Priority Places or Levelling Up For Culture Places. We’ve employed 50 freelance artists across a range of disciplines from writers, composers, designers and directors. Our productions have been performed to 7225 children and families across the UK during 2023. We have coordinated 101 live performances across the UK. Over half of these performances took place in non-traditional theatre venues or schools, widening access to hard to reach audiences that may otherwise be unable to enjoy live music and theatre. We’ve delivered 47 songwriting and music workshops for children and families, with 1376 participants taking part. All of these sessions were delivered in either schools or community spaces.
