We have supported people with disabilities to take up or continue cycling providing: Free advice and on-site demos Assessments for individual needs Innovative solutions to enable anyone to cycle Customised adoptions and accessories Refurbish used cycles for those on low budgets Special events for people with disabilities Community bike shop in York Financial support for Everybody's Cycling charitable CBS via subsidised rent and facilities We have also been successful in an application for funding from the Motability Foundation to provide free and low-cost cycle hire for people with disabilities, which we will be delivering throughout 2024 for 3 years.
Our main stakeholders are our disabled customers and their families from across the UK, plus local residents, workers, and visitors who are keen to support a not-for-profit community organisation. We also work closely with disability charities and support groups who inform our methods of working and advise us on how we can better serve their members. The previous facilitation of a working group of inclusivity advocates from influential cycling organisations, to ensure we have long term sustainable and affordable cycling options and opportunities for those with disabilities who want to be able to cycle, has resulted in the success of several grant applications across the country for free and low-cost cycle hire. We take part in local and national initiatives to improve the status and accessibility of disability cycling. We obtain feedback from all of our stakeholders and improve our services accordingly. We have grown our board from five to seven directors, six of whom advise from the viewpoint of a lived experience of disabilities, as well as providing other invaluable professional advice and support, and one who is a very successful cycling retail professional.
Only one director has been renumerated, as outlined in the financial accounts I see. This is our founder and Executive Chair who has worked for a nominal sum to help us through a challenging few years dealing with the ongoing impact of COVID and Brexit, as well as leading the very successful and collaborative work to secure ongoing funding from Motability Foundation.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
