Report of the Director |
for the Year Ended 31 December 2023 |
The director presents her report with the financial statements of the company for the year ended 31 December 2023. |
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITY |
The principal activity of the company in the year under review was that of a political organisation. |
The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung is one of the six major political foundations in the Federal Republic of Germany, which constitute an important part of the political culture of the country. The primary tasks of these six foundations include the promotion of political education in Germany and abroad, the promotion of studies and scholarship programs, international development cooperation, the organization of conferences and information events, political consulting, and the maintenance of libraries and archives. The basis for all of the foundations' work are the fundamental values and ideological beliefs of the parties to which they are affiliated. The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung is associated with Die Linke, the German Left Party. However, all six political foundations must comply with the constitutional model and maintain their independence and distance from the parties close to them. In Germany, they are recognized as non-profit organizations for tax purposes and are financed by public grants from various ministries. |
The activities of political foundations are an important facet in the foreign relations of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung maintains nearly 30 offices worldwide. Within this context, the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Great Britain Limited works in partnership with organizations across all regions of the United Kingdom and Ireland aimed at promoting in-depth political education and consulting as well as strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations. |
Since July 2019 the foundation has been initiating own and supporting non-profit organizations' projects across all regions of the UK as well as Ireland, aimed at enhancing political education and discussions on alternative participative democratic models, solutions to social, economic, and gender-based injustices following a decade of austerity or addressing ecological breakdown by transforming society and tackling social and global injustice. |
