Company activities and impact

BEYOND IYANOLA CIC provides a developmental service to the community, acting as advocate, consultant and go-between. Between December, 2022 and December 2023, it actively identified, amplified and celebrated persons of Saint Lucian and Caribbean heritage in the United Kingdom and globally through a range of activities including the following. Active participation in Windrush celebrations, including planning and executing a intergenerational church service, flag raising, film screening and community showcase celebration with the University of Greenwich, allowing for the recognition of the journey of this marginalised group who excelled under trying circumstances. Connecting approximately 10 businesses and professionals to community members, leading to collaborations, service provision and product sales. Promoting community events – flag raising ceremonies, themed dances and socials, Picnic In the Park, book launch, Hosting a Summer Cultural Showcase which provided 19 Caribbean entrepreneurs and organisations the opportunity to exhibit their passions and interests, to an audience of approximately 100 persons. Supporting two community organisations to improve their ways of working Added voice to policy and practice in diaspora engagement through attending conferences and other events including: Global Diaspora Assembly, Humanitarian forums, Diplomacy, Diaspora and Sustainability conference, Supported the planning and execution of the skills mapping project for researching people of Saint Lucian heritage resident in the UK.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are those who use its services, mainly persons of Caribbean (in particular Saint Lucian) heritage. Its directors have been resident in the United Kingdom for over a decade and are dedicated to community collaboration for improvement of everyday life. To this end, the company actively responds to feedback requests from any events attended both in writing and verbally where solicited or if deemed necessary to the outputs of the events and the organisation who hold them. Direct feedback from events held by our company is always solicited and where appropriate, surveys are sent out requesting formal feedback. This has helped us improve planning for our showcase events.
