Company activities and impact

GFM broadcasts a wide range of locally- sourced music, news, information and topical issues relating to the target community. The main types of music broadcast over the course of each week are a diverse range of genres with the focus on local and music not in the popular charts. The main type of speech output over the course of each week is to focus on interviews, debate, discussions, news reports, and information of relevance to the target community. This will be locally produced and original content. The studio is located within the licensed coverage area. The service provides a range of community benefits, social gain objectives mandated by statute for the target community, both on-air and off-air, and in doing so, achieves the following objectives: - the facilitation of discussion and the expression of opinion, - the provision (whether by means of programmes included in the service or otherwise) of education or training to individuals not employed by the person providing the service, and - the better understanding of the particular community and the strengthening of links within it. This activity has decreased during the pandemic and Ofcom have been informed PART 2 Members of the target community have the opportunity to contribute to the operation and management of the service through attending Annual Meetings To ensure it is accountable to its target community GFM provide minutes of meetings upon request from stakeholders and members of the community. Annual General Meetings are publicised in advance and the public are welcome. Members of the public are free to contact GFM via email, Facebook messenger and telephone to give feedback and offer suggestions and they do this on a regular basis. This is picked up and taken forward by the Station Development Manager.
