COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

ALTRINCHAM COMMUNITY MEDIA CIC

Company Number: 12457445 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 December 2023

Company activities and impact

The company continued to operate Radio Alty, a radio station that has been serving the Altrincham and wider area online since launching in March 2020. During the last financial year, the number of presenters and volunteers has continued to increase, with more of them taking advantage of the space in the Altrincham Garrick Playhouse that is rented as a studio space. Links continue to be made with local businesses through sponsorship and advertising as well as through appearances on daytime shows, and a series was produced interviewing residents of local care homes to record their memories of the local area. Links continue to be strengthened further with Altrincham Football Club, with live matchday commentary of the men’s team continuing, with a view to carrying coverage of the women’s team in future. In addition, commentary has also been carried of FA Youth Cup fixtures when the Linder 18s have participated in it. One of the morning shows is partially devoted to the club, interviewing players, staff and directors on a weekly basis. Community events continue to be attended, leading to potential volunteers contacting the station with a view to presenting or taking on back office roles.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company’s stakeholders are station volunteers, local businesses and residents of the local area. All volunteers are able to take issues to the Operations Team, who meet on a monthly basis, with consultation also undertaken by them and members of the Company Board. Furthermore, the station is often present at various community events to increase awareness of the station and gauge familiarity.
