  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

    Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, net of discounts and value added taxes. Turnover includes revenue earned from the sale of goods and from the rendering of services. Turnover is reduced for estimated customer returns, rebates and other similar allowances. Sale of goods Turnover from the sale of goods is recognised when the significant risks and rewards of ownership of the goods has transferred to the buyer. This is usually at the point that the customer has signed for the delivery of the goods. Rendering of services Turnover from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. The stage of completion of a contract is measured by comparing the costs incurred for work performed to date to the total estimated contract costs. Turnover is only recognised to the extent of recoverable expenses when the outcome of a contract cannot be estimated reliably.

Company activities and impact

The company is a community self-help organisation run by volunteers and is based in Liverpool. TEDS provides information and support to anyone in the local area suffering from disordered eating , and to their families. It also works with schools, universities and colleges, offering training and consultancy. It raises awareness and promotes an understanding of these types of disorders by working with them and developing “early intervention” strategies, including positive steps for recovery and promoting body positivity, and aims to increase resilience and well-being. Face to face meetings are held on a monthly basis, and extended to WhatsApp groups and zoom meetings during and post covid due to the increased demand in support. Meetings are open to anyone who requires emotional support, guidance and the opportunity to talk to other sufferers or carers in a secure, confidential environment. In addition, the company provides one-to-one support, ongoing telephone support, training courses and information packs.

The stakeholders are the directors, sufferers and their families, health professionals, educational institutions Feedback is logged and acted upon if necessary.
