The company runs a Lego themed play centre in Carlisle. It provides Lego bricks and other play materials to customers to facilitate play and learning. The shop opened for Business as a CIC in November 2022. During the financial year 2022-2023 the play centre has benefitted the community in the following ways. 1. Local families, children and adults have relaxed and spent time together avoiding electronic devices and other distractions. This has strengthened relationships and helped lower anxiety and stress. 2. The shop has provided full time or part time employment for three local residents. 3. Three local food producers provide us with produce to sell to customers; A local coffee roaster and two local bakers provide cakes and traybakes. 4. 4 Local schools have visited and used our resources to provide learning experiences. 5. The council has helped us run a regular meetup for local residents with high anxiety or adults who are on the autistic spectrum – we have used Lego themed activities to facility their further rehabilitation or networking skills. 6. Local cubs, guides, scouts, beavers, explorers, butterflies and brownies have all had learning events using Lego to be creative and strengthen team building. 7. We have had adult play sessions giving time away from hectic lives for relaxing and rehabilitation. 8. 100’s of households have used our facilities to play, learn and relax. 9. Local Home educators have used our facilities to learn Engineering, art, computer programming and Physics. As well as connecting socially with other home educators on site.
The company’s stakeholders are residents of Carlisle and the local surrounding area. The director has worked with children and parents in education and has built a model of service to provide experiences and development not available elsewhere. We ask for feedback on social media and through 1:1 conversations with randomly selected samples of visitors. We ask for general feedback on the quality and depth of service we provide along with feedback on the nature of the sessions we provide. We encourage employees to develop resources and ideas based on observed or reported issues.
The director is scheduled to receive remuneration of £30,000 which has currently not been paid out.
