She Is STEM has held its own networking event open for the community which ranged from students and newly qualified professionals to seasoned experts in healthcare and other STEM fields. This event allowed attendees to gain insight for working within the STEM field, make invaluable networking connections and find out information regarding the routes into various careers. We have also optimised our Linktree page by providing access to resources in the form of shared documents and links, where opportunities available for black women in STEM are continuously promoted. SIS shows insight into the realities of being a black woman in STEM through reels on our Instagram page @sheisstemuk such as the ‘Day in the life’ series and by sharing key tips and advice using the ‘Things I wish I knew’ post series. We have also shared posts on diseases prevalent within the black community such as Sickle cell to raise awareness of the condition and how we as a community can help for example via blood donation.
