Women with Wings CIC is an organisation that supports and empowers women, especially those who are non-English speaker to integrate into employment to better themselves. With English not being their first language, many Women need help and support gaining the tools to thrive, flourish and better themselves in the western working world. We aim to support women to move a step closer to employment by reducing barriers they are facing such as childcare, skills, locations with cost of travel, confidence, language, domestic abuse and poverty. Over the past financial year, we have been supporting our Little Hulton community and other neighbourhood communities through 3 different projects. 1.We have been working together with Salford Digital Inclusion Team to reduce the barrier of Technology knowledge in our community. We have run a project where we support women with their digital issues by supporting them and sign posting them to an appropriate organisation for more support they need. We run a digital support session once a week at our business centre where we helped women in different ways including: - Filling online form for work, education or benefits Make GP appointment/request medication online Apply for school for their children Apply for children uniform from charities that support Browse for other websites for their help needed. Setting and open email accounts 2. Another project we had run is Chit Chat English Cafe, where women come together for a coffee and a chat to improve their English. This project run once a week at our business centre in Little Hulton. We have seen a big impact in our community with this project, as our Little Hulton community has become a multiculture community with different culture from different background. The project help and support women to improve their language barrier and get the hope to engage in the community. 3. Also, we run an Adult Art session to bring women together to reduce isolation. Many women especially from BAME background or older age finding hard and difficult to engage with others in the community. This project brings them together and create a safe space where they can feel comfortable to interact with each other, making friends and build a strong community cohesion. This project has been very popular and we see an increase in the impact to the women in the community. 4. On top of that we have been running different events in our communities to bring awareness of African Culture. This project was a series of different events in different parts of Manchester to bring awareness and educate our communities with African cultural. The project overseen all African culture stuff including food, marriage, traditional dress, parenting and upbringing and many more. The project touched five parts of Africa continent which are: East Africa West Africa
