During the year 2023/24 KATO has provided its members with 4 network meetings where all members and stakeholders were invited. Two of these were in person and two online, this is in response to members feedback to preferring a hybrid approach to network engagement. Within these meetings we offer sector updates, best practice events and CPD opportunities for all members. The AGM forms part of the January network meeting providing a financial overview for members as well as the opportunity to vote on the committee members for the year. We also encourage members to nominate their own organisations to join and become part of the committee. In addition to the network meetings a monthly newsletter and regular communications are sent to members with the opportunity to showcase and celebrate successes and spotlight any specific activity or best practice. Additional CPD events have taken place through 2023/24 to include safeguarding best practice and apprenticeship CPD via The Education Foundation. The Directors meet with the Network Manager bimonthly, followed by a bimonthly committee meeting which enables information and discussion points to be cascaded and communicated efficiently. The committee are engaged and committed to attending and membership on various education and skills boards to represent KATO and its members ensuring providers have a voice. KATO is also involved in the annual Kent and Medway Apprenticeship Graduation. This year’s event takes place on 18th October 2024 at Rochester Cathedral has once again received an overwhelming response, achieving maximum capacity for the second year in a row! A new record of 208 registrations was achieved, with over 90 employers and a record 35 training providers engaged, including colleges, universities and private training providers. The website that was commissioned in 2023 has an established member’s area and proving to be a valuable resource and go space for its members.
The Stakeholders of KATO are predominantly its members; however, we have a range of strategic partners and local/regional organisations that provide external information to support us provide current and regulatory best practice, opportunities, and collaborative partnerships. We regularly ask the members for their views and needs on what they want from membership and ensure where appropriate and applicable that we deliver this through our network meetings and communications. Income generation and sector updates/best practice are often suggested as needs of the members and regular slots for external speakers are sought for each network meeting. We welcome feedback and the network manager has regular communications with the members to gauge the local and regional picture whilst engaging with strategic partners such as the LSIP, AELP and Ofsted to share updates, key challenges, and changes in the sector.
