2023 saw A4W Innovation C.I.C. building on our previous contacts and connections, prior to lockdowns as well as building on all our experiences and project development from the lockdown and opening up years. In particular, we have worked with young people who are struggling with social anxiety enough to be labelled as school refusers, with both teaching staff and youth workers on creative engagement activities. Also, supporting health and wellbeing of younger children and new parents through our Creative Sensory Connection to Nature projects in collaboration with local family centres. We have carried on our social, creative, engagement work with Ukrainian and Syrian refugees in collaboration with support services and University Of Lampeter. We have been lead arts organisation for South and Mid Ceredigion with Hywel Dda University Health Board, for the year and organised one of the three Counties Social Prescribing Stakeholders consultation days, as well as being Artists in residence for Health Staff in our local Integrated Care Centre and special Wellbeing days in other health institutions in other areas. As part of that we were invited to do an initial creative engagement day for Gypsy, Roma, Travelers in Pembroke. We have offered pop up social / creative, community development days in numerous rural communities, as well as supporting our Compassionate, Creative, Co-produced, Community Hub volunteers. We have also offered ‘Creative Me Time’ for the foster carers network and been part of the Glass Study of Keele University, organising participants to participate in a National study looking at frailty in older people. Lastly, we have delivered three very different, unique training and consultation days for staff development and Created, hosted and facilitated a community wide consultation day through our Story Studio initiative around the valley and river Teifi. All improving mental health, emotional wellbeing. Building confidence and increased sense of purpose, encouraged active citizenship, promoted compassion, inclusion, kindness and understanding and helped develop community integration, promotion of local language and customs. Encouraged intergenerational understanding and connections. Enriched sensory connection to natural environment, promoted health learning and helped embed a sense of community and sense of place. Nurtured collaborative partnerships. PART 2 – CONSULTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS – Please indicate who the company’s stakeholders are; how the stakeholders have been consulted and what action, if any, has the company taken in response to feedback from its consultations? If there has been no consultation, this should be made clear. The company’s stakeholders are the residents and visitors in the communities that we work in, third sector agencies or organisations that offer services in the local area and statutory services such as the local GP’s, frailty teams and community mental health teams. Also, everyone who attends / participates in one of our events, projects, training sessions are asked what they enjoyed? what worked? what they would like to see happening. Like last year our emphasis has been upon where have the gaps in provision been? What was missed most during lockdowns? And What have been the main difficulties affecting the different community groups and professional support organisations as staff start to get back to normal working regimes. The responses are exactly a repeat of previous years, except more pronounced and that the anecdotal feeling from professionals is that there are too few staff, having such large case loads. Significant impacts from lack of third sector and local authority support in the communities still prevail. Difficulties in accessing gp appointments, health and dental services. Increased sedentary behaviours leading to increase in a whole raft of illness’s and a huge increase in particularly Young People’s Mental Health. There have been increasing struggles for all living in rural areas with the austerity measures, price increases, lack of opportunities for work. A4W continue to respond to needs arising from communities and devise innovative creative interventions to address a whole range of issues pertaining to physical and mental health; Devise Personal, Professional and Community development events and opportunities as well as work with a range of third sector and statutory departments to best develop networks and projects.
