Safer By Sound provide Music, drama, dance/movement, sound recording (digital) and film/film editing workshops for people with health issues, people in recovery from alcohol and substance dependency and those with lifelong disability issues. In the past year along with our local partners Inspiring Leith, St James Church community hall, Building Bridges community meals, Satosa community wellbeing cafe and Leith Festival Association, we have run workshops for, Dance/Movement, Drama, Film/film editing, Green screen workshops and sound studio workshops culminating in performances and film nights. With Inspiring Leith and St James we hold a performance night known as The Well, the first Saturday of every month. Along with our Community Partners we have provided 6 community meals at Satosa Cafe and many coffee mornings. We also have a marquee we set up and use at Leith Festival with 10 performers on the day. We use the marquee during the summer at other local festivals including Leith Croft. Most of our participants are often not given the chance to perform elsewhere.
Safer by Sound Our Stakeholders are People with health issues, lifelong disabilities, People in recovery from alcohol and substance dependency, and those disenfranchised from society. Safer by Sound is a ground up organisation, within the remits it is the participants who choose the program they wish to explore, what it should be about etc. We enable each program as part feedback session by its nature. We also have many long term participants, who come along to workshops time and time again. We encourage our stakeholders to participate in the running of the company and organising of workshops/events To take responsibility and help run said Programmes /events.
