COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

THE CLUB SQUASH CIC

Company Number: 14867737 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 May 2024

Company activities and impact

In its first full year of operation as a Community Interest Company, since May 2023 The Club Squash has delivered coaching, camps and competitions to juniors and adults, largely in Greater Manchester and the North West of England and with regular reach beyond here. The organisation makes squash accessible for all, providing participation and talent pathways from grassroots through to elite level, alongside a structured coach development programme to prepare and nurture coaches for the business side of coaching alongside their practical skill set. The squash community has benefited in the following ways: Six squash clubs across Greater Manchester have set up a regular group coaching programme with The CLUB Squash, customised to meet the needs of their local community. This ranges from a growing women's programme in Cheetham Hill ready to enter League squash, to a focus on Junior development in Marple, Stockport, to reintroducing men's coaching in Monton, to culturally appropriate sessions in communities across our provision. The CLUB has provided work opportunities for 11 local coaches across this first year. Our coaches have benefited from growing in confidence to lead their own programme and get to know their clubs and communities, increasing their future employability skills and potential. Through our camp and competition programmes we have delivered to over 150 children, young people and adults utilising squash venues across Greater Manchester and Cheshire and helping to create a sense of community and connection for CLUB attendees. We have created opportunities to inspire and encourage our young people to aim high with locally held exhibition matches and coaching masterclasses from male and female professional squash players, as well as opportunities to train with leading coaches on residential camps ahead of major tournaments.

Consultation with stakeholders

The CLUB Squash invests time in its community of stakeholders to ensure we are meeting their needs and growing our programmes in the right way. Over the past year we have met with our partner clubs on a regular basis to review our coaching programmes and adapt our provision to reflect local need. We consult and consider feedback directly with attendees following all competition events by way of a post comp online survey. At all coaching, camps and competitions we also have a team physical presence to ensure we are available to talk about our programmes and how we can shape and develop for the future. Our core coaches meet as a group every week to discuss and share thoughts on what we are doing and where we are heading.
