Cambridgeshire Expressive Arts and Counselling Centre C.I.C (CEAACC) offers art therapy, expressive art therapies, counselling, mental health, parent support, and psychotherapy to children (age 3+), young people, adults and families. Offering an affordable, accessible, and local mental health and therapeutic service is core to CEAACC’s role and work with local communities. The majority of CEAACC’s work entails 1:1 therapy sessions, but CEAACC also offers group sessions and workshops. In 2023, CEAACC facilitated and ran a Neurodiversity Coffee Morning for carers and parents with children possibly/ diagnosed as neurodivergent. The group ran for 6 x weekly sessions, and then continued on a monthly basis. It provides a safe space for carers and parents to talk, and improve access to advice, information, and services. In 2023, CEAACC was commissioned to facilitate an art therapy program for refugees. Later in 2023, CEAACC facilitated ‘Back-to-School’ and ‘Self-Esteem’ online workshops for children and young people. CEAACC is part of Cambridgeshire County Council Alternative Education Provision, and is a registered provider for Cambridgeshire County Council Adoption Services. CEAACC is a recognised provider of therapeutic services within local schools, and supports individuals and families at school reviews and Educational Health Care (EHCP) meetings. CEAACC works with an increasing amount of Looked After Children (LAC) and adopted children and young people. CEAACC supports the community in extended ways including offering Work Experience opportunities to Year 10 secondary students, and offering training placements for Art Therapists, counsellors, and psychotherapists. CEAACC supports 2-3 trainee placements per year. CEAACC also welcomes volunteers, and runs a ‘Revolving Art Gallery’, in which local artists can exhibit their art free of charge for 6 weeks to gain experience and exposure.
CEAACC runs a weekly Management and Safeguarding meeting every Monday in which internal staff (employees) are invited to attend (Face-to-Face, and online). Goals of the meeting include: To oversee and monitor safeguarding issues pertaining to clients, families, services users, and staff. To develop and oversee the running of the service to ethical and professional standards. To listen to service user’s and staff needs and wellbeing. CEAACC runs regular Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meetings to monitor and develop the service. Consultation with the community, including charities, external agencies, (potential/) service users, is facilitated through feedback forms/ surveys, focus groups and meetings. Consultation with professional bodies such as Cambridgeshire Safeguarding Board, and the BACP is accessed through training events, and as needed.
