MHaPP’s work includes addressing health and poverty inequalities, focus on Women & Girl’s well-being by providing culturally specific services through community gathering, social justice and equity, community wealth, land and food justice through different spaces in the partnership. MHaPP does this through representation & advocacy, training & raising awareness, consultancy, well-being & mental health services, student placements, Food banks, refuge for women & girls, counselling & economic justice. MHaPP also worked in collaboration with other partners including (NEF) New Economics Foundation Living Income work & research. During the financial year 2023-2024 the following work below was done: Ten MHaPP partner organisations participated in governance work and contributed to strategic deliberations concerning MHaPP including representation on other strategic bodies, working with universities for student placements and research related work. We held 2 bi-monthly workshops for MHaPP partners covering different areas including exploring different strategic governance structures as we plan for the future of MHaPP, strategic review of MHaPP including mapping of our work, reflecting on our MHaPP journey (SWOT analysis) etc. The outcome of these workshops is currently shaping the next phase of our work. 12 community events were held which were well attended. We were able to organise successful events during the course of the reporting period. Among these included International Women’s Day celebration and taster days for our MHaPP Hubs in Central, North, South Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and Bolton. 40 wellbeing events were held as part of the work we have been commissioned through GMVCO/NHS. This involves providing Mental health support services to black women. As part of this work, we successfully launched the USTAWI project in different spaces aimed at providing specialist mental health support services. 89 women were supported on a one-to-one basis through our culturally appropriate trauma informed therapeutic services for Black Women who do not have access to psychotherapy and psychodynamic group therapy. 15 women were supported through our MHaPP pathway to access much needed support for themselves & their families. 12 student placements from Salford university for mental health nursing, social work, sociology and orthopaedics .
MHaPP key stakeholders are the Black African women who are the leaders of the partner organisations, the women and girls they support, the funders who give the grants such as Lankelly Chase, statutory organisations GMVCO/NHS who commission our work. Other Partners include Salford University and the New Economics Foundation (NEF). Consultation is an ongoing process as part of any commissioned or partnership work and is used in shaping any further work. MHaPP has a case management system where all organisations capture data between them to be able to support a woman holistically through the different issues they may have. The case management allows women to take part in recording the way they arrive for support, monitor progress through training and participation and eventually when they are ready to move on or not need MHaPP support any more. Women can log on their own accounts and store and download progress. Feedback is an ongoing process and captured through our case management system and action is taken for any issues arising. MHaPP also has open dialogue and consultative meetings with the women and communities we work with. Feedback from these meetings helps shape ongoing projects and is being used future project design. For example, establishing of MHaPP hubs in different areas was taken from these consultations to ease service delivery and also enable easy access for MHaPP services in different areas. The partner organisations hold 2 meetings a month, including one in person and one online. These meetings are spaces where learning, good practice and future strategic work is planned. Other ad hoc meetings are held to discuss ongoing project work and service delivery and outcomes from these are actioned.
