Notes to the Financial Statements

for the Period Ended 31 January 2024

  • 1. Accounting policies

    Basis of measurement and preparation

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Turnover policy

Turnover comprises of income from the company's participation in the lease activities and from the rendering of services. Revenue from services is recognised when the services have been provided and the right to consideration has been earned.

    Tangible fixed assets depreciation policy

Tangible fixed assets are measured at cost less accumulative depreciation and any accumulative impairment losses. Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets, other than freehold lands, as rates calculated to write off costs, less estimated residual value, of each asset evenly over its expected useful life, as follows: Land Nil, Buildings 4% reducing balance, Machinery 20% reducing balance.

    Other accounting policies

Income recognition Operating lease income is accounted for on a straight-line basis with any rental increases recognised during the period lo which they relate. Income is calculated on a monthly basis and consequently a full month's revenue is recognised for any lease where any number of days fall within that month. Income from the rendering of services is recognised by reference to the stage of completion of the contract. Cash Cash is represented by cash in hand and deposits with financial institutions repayable without penalty on notice of not more than 24 hours. Debtors Short term debtors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price), less any impairment loss for bad and doubtful debts. Loans and other financial assets are initially recognised at transaction price including any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest methods, less any impairment losses for bad and doubtful debts. Creditors Short term creditors are measured at transaction price (which is usually the invoice price). Loans and other financial liabilities are initially recognised at transaction price net of any transaction costs and subsequently measured at amortised cost determined using the effective interest method.

Company activities and impact

Company activities and impact The activities carried out in the year include:- All Stars Cricket for 5 to 8 year olds Girls Only Dynamos Cricket for 8 to 11 year olds Westies junior cricket from 7 to 10 years old Wolves junior cricket from 10 to 17 years old Senior cricket Try Something New Dementia Group Enhanced Provision All Stars CricHIIT, a ladies social fitness class Disability Cricket. a pan disability cricket section All these activities are aimed to promote the charitable purpose and give opportunities to everyone. The Dynamos project is for 8 to 11 year olds which was made girls only and saw a massive increase this year with 32 girls signing up with some returning to the club for the first time since All Stars. The purpose is to give a safe, all female environment for those who don't have the confidence to take part in our mixed training sessions. We continued our third year as a Cricket Scotland Disability Cricket Champion Club with weekly pan disability training sessions. The facilities upgrade Phase 1 was delivered in June 2023 with the official opening in August 2023 by the leader of Falkirk Council, our MSP and MP. This was the culmination of 4 years of work and fund raising. This saw an extension to the car park and a new accessible modular building which is for community use and to support the cricket club. The Try Something New group in association with Alzheimer Scotland continued to provide activities for people living with Dementia and their family carers. This provides much needed social interaction for people living with dementia in the local area and their family carers. A second full year of CricHIIT (women's social fitness group with a cricket focus) was delivered weekly with about 10 ladies attending regularly. This has provided a safe environment for ladies to exercise where they wouldn’t necessarily go to the gym and provides friendly and social sessions. The club relies on volunteers to ensure its survival and the number of volunteers has continued to grow. For junior cricket 160 training sessions and games were delivered with 30 volunteer coaches spending 590 hours training the juniors supported by 50 hours of parent support.

Consultation with stakeholders

We are in regular contact with our membership and have also engaged with the local community at the official opening of the modular building. We ran an open day with music, inflatables and a chance to view the new building and learn of future plans.
