Company activities and impact

Local Matters Workshops CIC operates as a design, build and social making practice working to connect people to their surrounding productive and cultural landscapes by making with local materials. This happens through bespoke workshops tailored to different groups in the community who don't typically have access to making, teaching them basic carpentry tools and techniques followed by field trips to the material's local origin ecosystems. This participatory work with the community also takes place on 1:1 building projects in which volunteers are taught similar skills and values at a bigger scale. Through all the design, build and making services we offer, our impact is always to connect people to their surrounding landscapes through the materials exchanged between.

Consultation with stakeholders

Local Matters Workshops CIC consults heavily with stakeholders as each project aims to serve a particular part of the community. This comes through principles of co-design while developing projects as well as the hands-on processes involved in the delivery of a project which ensures the community's voices are at the fore.
