Company activities and impact

The company run The wash House Garden, an urban farm and community garden that brings local communities into the food growing process. Since February 2021, we have grown produce on our small plot of land in East Glasgow, with our lovely family of volunteers. Our regular volunteer sessions bring people together around the enriching and meaningful practices of cultivating soil and growing delicious vegetables. We sell our produce through a small but popular Veg-Box scheme, delivering top quality produce to our community, and helping us sustain our social offering. We have run an ambitious program of community activities, focused around land-based skills, connecting to food and nature, and facilitating access to a restorative green space. We provide sessional employment on a seasonal and part-time basis to five people. Around 30 households have benefitted directly from our Veg-Box scheme Around 30 regular volunteers have engaged consistently with us this financial year. There are around 20 more regular participants attending events hosted by partner organisations. Around 100 more unique visitors have come along to our one of events.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have spoken with Volunteers, customers and workshop participants directly and used feedback forms for the former two groups. We have encouraged stakeholder participation through open meetings and have been responsive to the needs and interests of our community. for example by increasing our provision of free Beekeeping sessions.
