Company activities and impact

The company runs a community church in Sheffield with a vision to minister Love, Joy and Hope to everyone in the community. The CIC opened for operations in January 2023 and during the financial year 2023-2024, the church’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: 1-Sunday services have been a, means of Spiritual nourishment, community support, guidance and mentorship, fellowship and friendship, and opportunities for service and outreach to over 300 people. Availing a space for spiritual feeding by the word of God, a chance to worship communally, prayer together, comfort , inspiration , challenges, correction. 2-Set up Arbourthorne Fitness class available to everyone in the community from the age of 8 years and above irrespective of gender, race and ethnicity. The sessions are held every Friday for an hour from 6pm to 7pm. A mix of aerobics and body conditioning exercises to give a balanced workout, mixed dynamic class, which compromises of an aerobic workout improving stamina and endurance. Sessions will but not limited to Circuit workout, Zumba, Salsa/bachata dance classes, strong nation, stretching classes and all these activities will be carried out by a fully trained, competent and authorised trainer. A questionnaire is filled in by every first time that serves several important purposes. By gathering this information, the CIC can make data-driven decisions to improve operations, enhance member satisfaction, and ultimately increase member retention and growth. To date 25-40 members attend the fitness class. 3-Within this financial year we manged to set up a community Pastoral and Clinical Counselling hub called ARISE and SHINE and served close to 70 community members freely. This offers free well-being & Counselling sessions that are tailor made, perfectly adapted programmes to fit each person’s needs and unique circumstances. A safe space for people to get support for their mental health and wellbeing. Arise and Shine raises awareness of mental health and provides tools and guidance for daily wellbeing-management, and aims to remove the stigma surrounding mental health. It’s a programme that has supported over 70 people to date. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices. Communal feedback has been very welcoming especially due to the fact that sessions can be done in different languages. 4-In this same financial year, we set up the Sheffield African Music, Dance and Drama group. Africa is well-known for its many cultures and beautiful landscapes. The music in Africa is like a special treasure, full of stories and traditions. It’s not just for fun – music helps people talk to each other, tell stories, and build a sense of togetherness. In this respect Sheffield African Music Dance and Drama Group explores and presents African music, from old times in places like Uganda to the cool music we hear today. We have done African cultural activities to over 6 care homes in Sheffield and attended various social, corporate and community events reaching to 300 people or more.
