The company has undertaken capacity building work to bring together local residents to fight climate change and improve local biodiversity, has continued to support Local Outcome Improvement Plans and sustainable transport and has delivered further consultation work for active travel infrastructure delivery and continued development of a community led heritage trail. The company has delivered numerous cycling initiatives ensuring all local residents have access to bikes either through subscription service, free bike library hire or free upcycled bikes for young people, the company has also installed cycle parking with local community groups and a new active travel hub for Gartcosh. The company has undertaken community based social prescribing and provided community wellbeing activities and volunteering opportunities in two community growing spaces and local woodlands as well as drop in indoor wellbeing sessions to tackle the local mental health crisis. The company has consulted with the local community to continue the next phase of delivery at the Glenmanor Greenspace project working in partnership with the local authority to bring a heritage park and visitor activities. The company has worked with several community groups as part of demonstrator projects for the Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub. The company has undertaken a long project on sustainable funding for community led activity, examining the support ecosystems in the third sector, and the difficulties of integrating so many thematic elements in Holistic Placemaking and Community Health Building.
Our active travel projects and community garden spaces are community led as is our heritage trail - both projects continue to undertake wide community consultation and work in partnership with CLD teams and the Northern Corridor Community Volunteers Our greenspace, woodland and path network response are also community led projects involving uniformed groups, youth clubs, schools and adult volunteers from throughout the villages. Our social prescribing work was informed by referrals from GP link workers. Our climate action work with the Lanarkshire Climate Action Hub engaged communities new to climate action to look at carbon reduction actions which also benefit community wellbeing and delivered workshops on how to use needs based working alongside practical solutions to negate the narrative that being sustainable is a difficult choice.
