Company activities and impact

CanDo Doulas CIC has continued to support parents with complex issues before, during and after a birth, through prenatal training, birth support and post-natal support. We worked across three main areas of West Midlands: Cannock, Telford and Shropshire, from referred clients from Social Services, Mental Health Teams, Learning Disabled Services, Midwives and individuals in the community asking for support. Three main doulas worked with 5 clients, supporting them through pregnancy, birth and adoption processes, attending contact sessions, core group social services meetings, postnatal support and births and whats app support. The clients included people with domestic abuse, physical disabilities and mental health issues. These three doulas were in turn supported by other doulas, giving specific advice and emotional support. Some clients have been supported for as long as two years and some just for three months, depending on the needs and family support they have in place. Our key administrator person had to step back this year due to fulltime work, so there was a drop in ability to encourage more referrals. This is now in the process of being addressed and two people have stepped in to take over the role left, with a new doula recruitment drive to meet the needs.

Consultation with stakeholders

This year has been a difficult year for consultation without the additional hours of the administrator post. However Directors meetings have been held and meetings with advisors and doulas have also been held, where their views have been asked and heard. Hence the new revitalisation the CIC is undergoing. We do request feedback via the doulas working directly with the clients about the support received and there is a compliments and complaints procedure if needed to assist their voices being heard and further action taken.

Directors' remuneration

Director , Susannah Barber was also our main administrator for the past few years and was renumerated for this particular work as required. £1080 was paid out over the year.

Transfer of assets

No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
