TUNING IN COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Directors' report period ended 30 September 2024

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 30 September 2024

Principal activities of the company

Activities - This year The Company has delivered 12 (once-a-month) workshop sessions for the older people of New Moston & North Manchester. Each Session has been attended by between 20-33 people aged between 50 - 90. The sessions have grown in popularity as word is spreading. Impact Loneliness & Isolation - The sessions help tackle the issue of loneliness and isolation among members of the community by bringing people together and give them something to look forward to and get them out of the house. Health & well-being - The sessions promote good health & well-being amongst the community by connecting them with each other, local nature, and local history, through creativity, singing, sounding, moving & well-being exercises for the mind and body. Now we have completed a successful first year of our Tuning In CIC, next year we will be adding 5 new groups for the local community. The local church has agreed to let us use the space for free while we get the CIC going to create and show a track record and demonstarte the ability to run successful groups to enable us to qualify for funding applications. 1. Mothers & Babies - 'Baby Sounds' 2, People and carers suffering from dementia - 'Music in Mind' 3. A wellbeing singalong community choir - 'The Wellbeing Singalong' 4. Healthy mobility for adults through Sound & moment - 'Sound and Motion' 5. Special Educational Needs story sessions - 'Sensory stories' The company’s stakeholders are local residents who attend the Tuning In sessions and the local church who let us use their space (although the group is not connected with anything religious, the church are interested in allowing groups into their space that benefit the local community) We ask the group members to fill out a questionnaire to collect feedback on their experience of taking part in the group. This feedback has helped us shape future sessions, activities, content and exercises to improve the impact of our workshops. We have attended the local parish council meetings to report on the groups activities and plans for creating more groups to engage with other segments of the community. All our reported activities and plans were voted on by the parish council, resulting in unanimous approval for our work, its benefits and future development. In order to fund the room hire rental, each session the group are invited to optionally contribute £2 or what they wish to offer. This is in order to raise the £45 room hire fee. This is in place until we can secure our first funding. Currently, we are running all activities with no funding as it's our first year running the CIC. All funders require that a CIC has been running for 6-12 months before we can apply for funding. Next year we can use the space for free as the church has seen our success and wish to support us in growing our CIC.

Political and charitable donations

Each workshop session the group are invited to donate an optional £2 to help raise the room hire money fee. Through the year this has raised £410.54 to contribute to our bill of £540 (£45 per session for 12 months totalling £540). The director Luke Crookes has contributed the shortfall of £129.46 in order to get the CIC going.
