In the year February 2023 to January 2024, Sustainable Communities UK CIC provided consultancy, training, community engagement and delivered community projects to support and develop the capacity of charities and local communities across the UK and to help reduce their carbon footprint. It also set up a LGBT+ Domestic abuse Project . The Company’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways: We have advised 12 small charities and social enterprise son different aspects of running a small organisation: helped set up new and developed the governing structures of existing small charities and community businesses we worked with. Provided a business and financial planning service to charities and other community organisations Reviewed the policies and procedures of community organisations to ensure they are legally compliant, to help them meet specific quality standards and best serve their community Run an upcycling project for young people in South London to teach them about reducing their carbon footprint Set up and supported partnership projects for disadvantaged young people and adults in Lambeth South London to prepare them for employment as early years workers, play and youth workers, and as community gardeners. Set up an new London wide LGBT support network for LGBT+ survivors of domestic abuse: Completed a research project and report into support facilities for LGBT+ people in 10 London Boroughs
Our stakeholders are divided into two groups a the community groups from across the UK who have contacted us this year for support and advice b community partners with whom we have delivered joint partnership projects a We have been contacted by 19 community groups who have sought advice or support in meeting their needs and those of their local community. We have engaged with on-going work with 6 of these, varying from one off sessions to support over many months or throughout the financial year. We have obtained and sought feedback from 5 stakeholder organisations who have provided information on the impact of our work with them. This feedback has been very largely very positive and has shown that we have been flexible and adjusted our work to meet their needs according to their circumstances. b We have worked with four partner organisations working either in London or across England to jointly deliver community projects for young people and adults around the environment, employment and training and to help them develop as organisations. Their feedback has shown how our expertise in governance, project management , training and consultation and has helped them improve their outputs and outcomes. This work has helped 18 young people and young adults aged between 16 and 31 years complete training and obtain employment and at least 11 young persons aged 8 to 15 years improve their relationships with their family and peers. We have also set up a London wide LGBT+ domestic abuse survivors network with www.risemutual.org and have just started taking referrals
The aggregate amount of emoluments paid to or receivable by directors in respect of qualifying services was £8,120. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed
