The Company has served its community of people with learning disabilities and their families, by holding online meetings, workshops and consultations to disseminate information and obtain views about government policies which affect its members. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, we had to move our work online, and because our community tends to consist of people who are at increased risk of severe consequences from Covid, we now try to offer hybrid attendance at events, to ensure maximum inclusivity. The directors have both donated time and been paid as self-employed consultants to take part in commissioned work. We have also worked with the Local Government Association (LGA), NHS England, and the Association of Directors of Adult Social Care (ADASS) to increase opportunities to improve services via more coproduction with people with learning disabilities and their family carers and unpaid supporters.
The company's stakeholders are people with learning disabilities and their families and friends, and also the people who are paid to work in specific support roles in public, third sector, and community services. We have completed consultations and information events with our stakeholders in group meetings, online surveys, social media engagement, and email and telephone conversations, with the aim of sharing with government and service providers our collective vision of what disabled people need in order to lead decent lives. The action we have taken in response to these events and consultations is to share our findings and to resolve to keep our members well-informed by providing inclusive access to information, events and activities that are of interest to them.
