Company activities and impact

The company provides various water polo activities, events and services to serve the UK water polo community, and other groups, encouraging and promoting sport and physical exercise, athletic development, health and well-being and providing opportunities to train, develop and compete in the sport both in the UK and abroad. The company provides services to a diverse mix of groups including Senior Men and Women age 19 PLUS, Mixed Youths 16-19, Mixed Juniors cohorts ranging from ages 8-16 and schools. In the reporting period 01/05/2023 – 30/04/2024 the company organised a number of outdoor water polo events:- Thursday July 6th– Schools – Nantwich Outdoor Pool Friday July 7th – Schools – Nantwich Outdoor Pool Saturday 8th July - Mixed Juniors – Nantwich Outdoor Pool Saturday 12th August - Senior men and Women media City Salford Quays In the reporting period the company has provided events and activities for: 10 Mixed Junior and Youth Teams (approx. 150 participants) 8 Senior Men’s teams (approx. 65 participants) 8 Senior Women’s teams (approx. 70 participants) 8 School Teams (approx. 120 participants) Additionally, events provided fun and enjoyment for around 100 direct spectators attending per event and many more indirect public spectators who stop to watch matches we stage in popular tourist locations such as Media City, Salford Quays. It is recognised that events have a positive impact to the local economies in the towns and cities where events are staged, with participating teams and spectators travelling into those areas, and using local services and businesses for travel, food, drink and accommodation. Events provide a summer festival atmosphere with music and food designed to offer the community a more relaxed and sociable event format in contrast to the formal UK water polo competition structure running from Winter through to Spring. The company is recognised as providing a unique and valued service to the water polo community, offering much needed opportunities for players and teams to come together and train, compete, develop and socialise, and to do so in high profile outdoor environments where the sport can be showcased to the wider public.

Consultation with stakeholders

The Directors of the company have all been involved in water polo for many years as players, organisers, volunteers and committee members and some have held volunteer paid and volunteer positions with Swim England. Directors are well connected to the water polo community and we consult with the community formally and informally to understand priorities and direction for the company. Volunteers from the community are actively involved in the delivery of our events and activities and provide vital input and feedback into the company strategy and direction. We consult with the community on areas such as event locations, dates, competition format, match rules, tournament entry fees and more. Consultation determines when, where and how we deliver events and ensures that entry fees are manageable for teams and provide good value for money.
