It is recognised that events have a positive impact to the local economies in the towns and cities where events are staged, with participating teams and spectators travelling into those areas, and using local services and businesses for travel, food, drink and accommodation. Events provide a summer festival atmosphere with music and food designed to offer the community a more relaxed and sociable event format in contrast to the formal UK water polo competition structure running from Winter through to Spring. The company is recognised as providing a unique and valued service to the water polo community, offering much needed opportunities for players and teams to come together and train, compete, develop and socialise, and to do so in high profile outdoor environments where the sport can be showcased to the wider public.
The Directors of the company have all been involved in water polo for many years as players, organisers, volunteers and committee members and some have held volunteer paid and volunteer positions with Swim England. Directors are well connected to the water polo community and we consult with the community formally and informally to understand priorities and direction for the company. Volunteers from the community are actively involved in the delivery of our events and activities and provide vital input and feedback into the company strategy and direction. We consult with the community on areas such as event locations, dates, competition format, match rules, tournament entry fees and more. Consultation determines when, where and how we deliver events and ensures that entry fees are manageable for teams and provide good value for money.
