BRADNINCH TOGETHER COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY

Directors' report period ended 31 January 2024

The directors present their report with the financial statements of the company for the period ended 31 January 2024

Principal activities of the company

Bradninch Together CIC (‘BradTog’) was established for the purpose of supporting and developing community activities in the parish of Bradninch. We retain a database of over 90 local volunteers, first established in response to community need during the Covid-19 Pandemic. During 2023, this volunteer network was written into the new Bradninch and Hele Emergency Plan, which is owned by Bradninch Town Council but whose development was led by Sue Eakers and Jim Porteous (formerly a Councillor prior to becoming a BradTog Director), supported by grants obtained from the Devon Communities Resilience Forum. The final version of the plan was approved by the Council on 9th October 2023. The BradAid Hardship Fund, established in April 2020, has been part of BradTog’s offer to the community, offering modest grants to those in need of immediate help to meet essential costs. The fund has relied entirely on donations from local residents and groups. 41 grants of £50 each were made during the period February 2023 to September 2023; and in September 2023 the decision was made to suspend BradAid due to lack of available funds. There remains a small balance in the pot; and the BradTog infrastructure would enable its reopening should funds become available for distribution in the future. The third Bradninch Town Fair, which is a collaborative community project coordinated by BradTog, took place on 16th September 2023. Fair Day offered local groups an opportunity to promote themselves and to raise funds; and provided a range of free activities and events to encourage residents to try new things, connect with others, demonstrate their skills and have fun. New Fair Day activities for 2023 included the inaugural Sustainable Bradninch Wildlife Competition, an Artisan Market Space for local makers and producers to sell their wares and a free Circus Skills workshop supported by Bradninch Town Council.
