MMARAP provides various Mixed Martial Arts sessions to young people free of charge and is entirely funded by grants, donations and charitable funding. Martial arts promotes empowerment, discipline, self-esteem, confidence, team building and fun, important life skills. While the popular perception of MMA relates to highly trained athletes fighting one another, MMARAP focuses on teaching the individual the disciplines of karate, boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) to young people. By exposing individuals to three different disciplines MMARAP hopes to provide a more varied and engaging experience. All of these martial arts promote a positive, determined and focused approach to life. Our company is geared towards helping give young people a focus away from a life of crime and violence; we also have a strong focus on those with learning disabilities, the partially sighted, those with hearing impairments and amputees.
Our Directors meetings are held frequently and we are updated with delivery of our service and the impact that our sessions are having on youth and the wider community. The Directors have an opportunity to recommend strategic views in order to help the growth and direction of MMARAP towards its purpose and vision. We use social media to showcase and promote our services, to engage with our audience and to connect with other parties who show an interest in our mission and purpose. The response from social media has been overwhelming and informative, as many have wanted to get involved with MMARAP - whether it be volunteering, as a participant, donor or associate. The reason for MMARAP’s website is to show our mission and vision, the programmes and the outcomes of achievements which have been recorded.
