In the last financial year, the company applied for and received funding to carry out its 12-week selfcare, hair confidence and empowerment free workshop for women. The company worked with other professionals and experts in the self-care and hair care industry to create the Cake, Cornrow & Selfcare programme. As part of the 12-week programme, portraits of the participants was taken by a professional photographer that will be part of a photo-exhibition later in the year or early 2025. Through its social media platforms, the company continues to create and share content that inspires black women and girls to love and embrace their natural hair texture, giving them the tools to handle and navigate societal pressures and discrimination they might encounter as a result of having afro-textured hair. Feedback from event and programme participants and the general public continue to stress the importance of the work the company is doing, in terms of promoting diversity and inclusion.
Main Stakeholders are: Volunteers Funders Members of the general public with a keen interest on hair discrimination and beauty diversity and inclusion. Stakeholder consultation: No formal consultation with the main stakeholder groups was carried out during the year under review, however a number of unsolicited feedback has been received from members of the public including participants of the company’s events and programme. These feedbacks have been positive with participants asking for a repeat of the programme or to bring it to their city (outside London)
