During the 2023-2024 financial year, our organisation actively supported over 600 young people through a range of youth development programs for ages 11-18. These initiatives focused on preventative activities to deter young people from crime by providing a safe space, fostering personal growth, and offering essential life skills development. A cornerstone of our outreach was our Youth Leadership Programme, a six-month program for youth aged 14-18. This program provided participants with essential life skills covering leadership, well-being, financial literacy, rights, and employability, while exposing them to new experiences and opportunities foundational for adulthood and community involvement. Throughout the year, we achieved the following impacts: Employment and Skills Development: Supported three young people in securing employment, one in obtaining an apprenticeship, and one young person in strengthening family relationships and staying in school. Volunteer Opportunities: Facilitated volunteer roles for five young people to build skills, confidence, and a sense of responsibility. Cultural Education: Through our Cultural Workshops, we educated and inspired, promoting a world where harmful stereotypes are replaced by genuine appreciation for cultural diversity. These workshops were crafted to inspire young leaders to become advocates for inclusion and understanding, bridging cultural divides and fostering a unified, empowered community. Our Youth Leadership Programme, The Den Project, Smart Screen Studios, and Cultural Workshops were instrumental in creating these outcomes. We extend our gratitude to the Police Crime Commissioner, People Zone, and Leicester City Council for their vital support in funding these initiatives, enabling us to reach our mission of empowering young leaders to drive positive change. Programs Overview Youth Leadership Programme (Ages 14-18) Objective: Equipping young people with essential life skills for a successful transition into adulthood. This comprehensive program addresses leadership, well-being, financial literacy, rights, and employability while providing new experiences. Girls Corner (Ages 16) Objective: Offering a safe, supportive, and empowering space for girls aged 16 and above to unwind, engage in meaningful conversations, enjoy board games, and receive guidance from experienced mentors. Smart Screen Studios (Ages 13-17) Objective: Developing media and creative skills in young people by teaching the art of filmmaking using smartphones. Participants aged 13-17 learn to craft mini-documentaries, gaining essential media skills and creative confidence. The Den Project (Ages 11-16) Objective: Providing after-school support for young people who may be facing school-related issues, exhibiting antisocial behaviours, or are at risk of engaging in criminal activities. This project creates a constructive environment for personal growth and positive behavioural changes. Cultural Workshops Objective: Educating and inspiring participants to appreciate cultural diversity and break down stereotypes. Through these workshops, we aim to cultivate young leaders who champion unity and understanding, paving the way toward a more inclusive, empowered community. Through these programs, we envision a future where young leaders not only thrive individually but also act as catalysts for a brighter, more united world. Together, we continue to build bridges of understanding and a global community grounded in mutual respect and empowerment.
Youth Participants and Families: We engage regularly with young participants and their families through feedback forms, surveys, and one-on-one check-ins. During program sessions, our staff gathers input on participants’ needs, concerns, and suggestions, ensuring that our offerings remain relevant and impactful. We also hold family engagement meetings for input on potential improvements. Schools and Community Organisations Networking: We consult with local schools and community organisations through meetings and collaborative planning sessions. These partners provide valuable insights on trends, challenges, and needs they observe in the youth population, helping us tailor our programs to meet current needs effectively. Volunteers and Mentors: Volunteers and mentors provide direct feedback through structured surveys and debrief sessions following program events. Their frontline insights into program implementation and youth engagement help us enhance the quality of our activities. Funding Partners: We hold regular review sessions with our funding partners, where we present updates on program outcomes, discuss any challenges, and receive their input on potential strategic adjustments. Support Networks: Support networks provide feedback on community impact, partnership opportunities, and areas for program expansion. Actions Taken in Response to Stakeholder Feedback: Program Enhancements: Based on feedback from youth participants and families, we introduced new program modules, including financial literacy workshops and additional mental health support resources. Extended Hours for Girls Corner: In response to requests from families and participants, we extended the operating hours for Girls Corner to offer more flexibility and a safer environment for young women. Expanded Volunteer Opportunities: Following input from volunteers and mentors, we expanded our volunteer program to provide more skills training, enabling volunteers to take on greater responsibilities and engage more meaningfully with youth. Increased Cultural events: Based on feedback from wider community and organisations seeking workshops, we increased the frequency and diversity of our Cultural events to foster a more inclusive environment that reflects the diverse backgrounds of our participants.
