Company activities and impact

During the financial year, Techniques Football Development C.I.C has expanded it's range of both free and open football sessions with a particular emphasis on providing opportunities for girls to play football in deprived areas mainly in the Hackney and Islington boroughs of North London. We have also moved further afield now working in the Haringey area and in a school in the City of London. We have been able to help foster social inclusion, promote physical and mental well-being and create a sense of community. We have worked with another football charity in Haringey to provide free girls only football sessions in an area where the provision of this is very limited. This has enabled the girls to access excellent football facilities and pitches to play on and we have also arranged to make the clubhouse more female friendly. We are now active in 10 schools in North London providing football sessions and this will be further expanded in 2024-25 as we will go into more schools and branch out into South and West London as well as the Surrey area. The impact of our sessions have had a huge beneficial effect on the participants and their families and helped to build the confidence particularly of the girls, not only in sport but in general everyday life.

Consultation with stakeholders

Stakeholders - participants of our programmes - Girls and Boys - Parents and guardians of young participants - Local schools - London FA Method of consultation - Meetings with teachers and London FA - Questionnaires for participants and parents Action taken from feedback - A case study was produced that has shown the positive feedback we have received about our girls football programme in schools in the most deprived communities - We amended our Sunday open girls only football sessions to make the times more suitable for participants as well as being able to cater for children with learning difficulties - We have been in dialogue with the London FA showing our findings and discussing ways of expanding our initiatives to other parts of London, this has led to a collaboration next year with the Metropolitan Police.
