DadSpace provides many FREE in person events, walks and workshops for fathers and their families, delivering our unique brand of “Brotherly Support Between Fathers”. The project started in November 2021. The first year was so rewarding and well received that we formalised as a CIC in January 2023 which enabled us to start fund raising, to allow us to organise even more events, opportunities and now open new locations. Having started in Maidstone, we now have regular sessions in Sevenoaks and Ashford too, with plans to open more locations in Broadstairs and Sittingbourne next year. During the financial year 2022-2023, DadSpace activities have directly benefited over 800 fathers (+ their familys) and the wider community in general in the following ways, but not limited to: *Hosted Guest speakers on requested topics such as ADHD, Relationship Counciling and Personal Motivation. *We host an active Facebook community and WHatsApp groups for peer on peer support. *Conducted several radio interviews (BBC Radio Kent, Made in Kent Radio, Kent Online), and hosted a stall at local festivals and school fetes, in person to highlight and address importance of mens mental health in general and promote our free events. *In May we hosted a group of 14 dads on a fundraising hike up Scafell Pike Mountain and raised over £2000 for DadSpace. *Hosted physical gym sessions for dads to motivate them to exercise and experience *Provided opportunities for dads to play in charity football match and raised over £1000. *We have visited several local businesses (including Charities Aid Foundation, KCC and Bedfont scientific) and delivered workshops on mental health to over 1000 employees. *Most importantly, we have at least 3 fathers who have admitted to considering suicide as a way out. They have openly said that DadSpace sessions helped them see that there is a scenario in which they can thrive and survive as a father. Regardless of the fundraising or fun events, these 3 men being with us today surrounded by their family's are our proudest achievement to date.
DadSpace Stakeholders are the very Fathers and Families that attend our events. The directors are dedicated to delivering a variety of unique and FREE events that are appealing to a wide range of people. There are a number of mental health support groups out there, but we believe that our variation of events is what gives DadSpace its uniqueness in this sector. We always receive lots of positive feedback in person and have shining reviews on trust pilot page. In October 2023 we were recognised as award winners and Champions of mental Health awareness by Kent Mental Wellbeing awards, which was sponsored by the charity “Mind”. We have recently secured funding from KCC to open 3 new locations (the first of which was achieved early and was recognised as exceptional work by KCC in a project review meeting. We look forward to delving even more events in 2024 and continuing to raise awareness of mental health.
