(b)preparing financial statements which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company as at the end of each financial year and of its surplus or deficit for each financial year in accordance with the requirements of Sections 394 and 395 and which otherwise comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 relating to financial statements, so far as applicable to the company.

The financial statements have been prepared and delivered in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.

All the members have consented to the preparation of an abridged Balance Sheet for the year ended 30 November 2023 in accordance with Section 444(2A) of the Companies Act 2006.

In accordance with Section 444 of the Companies Act 2006, the Profit and Loss Account has not been delivered.

1. STATUTORY INFORMATION

The Barrow Rugby Football Club Limited is a private company, limited by guarantee , registered in England and Wales. The company's registered number and registered office address can be found on the Company Information page.

The presentation currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£).


2. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

Basis of preparing the financial statements
These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with Financial Reporting Standard 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" including the provisions of Section 1A "Small Entities" and the Companies Act 2006. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention as modified by the revaluation of certain assets.

The financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis the directors having agreed to continue to support the company.

Turnover
Turnover represents net invoiced sales of goods and services as adjusted for accrued income, excluding VAT.

Tangible fixed assets
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.
Freehold property - not provided
Improvements to property - 2% on cost
Plant and machinery - at variable rates on reducing balance
Fixtures and fittings - 15% on cost
Motor vehicles - 20% on cost

Stocks
Stocks are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value, after making due allowance for obsolete and slow moving items.

Pension costs and other post-retirement benefits
The company operates a defined contribution pension scheme. Contributions payable to the company's pension scheme are charged to profit or loss in the period to which they relate.

3. EMPLOYEES AND DIRECTORS

The average number of employees during the year was 49 (2022 - 53 ) .

Included in cost or valuation of land and buildings is freehold land of £ 500,000 (2022 - £ 500,000 ) which is not depreciated.

The freehold land and buildings of the company are included in the Balance Sheet at open market value for existing use. The valuation was carried out by the Directors in September 2022 on a depreciated replacement cost basis at £1,450,000.The surplus or deficits on revaluation of freehold land and buildings are transferred to the revaluation reserve which is a departure from Financial Reporting Standard 102.

Depreciation is not provided in respect of Freehold land and buildings

The net book value of tangible fixed assets includes £3,243 (2022: £4,054) in respect of assets held under hire purchase agreements. The amount of depreciation in respect of such assets amounted to £811 (2022: £1,013) for the financial year.

10. LIMITED BY GUARANTEE

The company is a private company limited by guarantee and consequently does not have share capital. Each of the members is liable to contribute an amount not exceeding £1 towards the assets of the company in the event of a liquidation.
