HOPE COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE CIC

Company Number: 14651421 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 28 February 2024

Company activities and impact

Hope Community Enterprise's (HCE)’s primary objective is to empower underprivileged Youths and Adults from minority communities with skills training in the following two flagship projects: Health and Social Care Skills Training for 10 Participants This 12-week Care Skills Training programme includes both theoretical instruction and practical training, delivered in accordance with the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Upon successful completion of the programme, all 10 participants acquire the necessary knowledge and competencies to secure employment as Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) or Care Workers. Impact on Participants By gaining employment, these 10 individuals not only achieve financial stability by earning a living wage, but they are also empowered to support their families. The programme thus contributes directly to the economic upliftment of participants and their dependents. Broader Impact on the Community The initiative delivers several key benefits to the local community: Addressing Unemployment By facilitating employment for 10 individuals from the local area, the programme directly reduces the burden of unemployment within the community. Alleviating the Care Worker Shortage In light of the acute national shortage of care workers, the skills acquired by these Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) address an essential need. Supporting Vulnerable Community Members The trained HCAs contribute meaningfully to the well-being of the community by providing: Companionship to elderly individuals, Assistance with meal preparation, shopping, and doctor’s appointments, Support at local social clubs or events. Enhancing Professional Cleaning Services Professional cleaning services, an ancillary outcome of the programme, further enhance the community’s quality of life.

Consultation with stakeholders

The primary stakeholders of the company were the 10 participants in the Health and Social Care Skills Training project. The participants were local memebers of the community. The company director, who resides in the local town and has extensive experience in the health services sector, played a pivotal role in the programme. Leveraging their expertise, the director designed and delivered the training to ensure it met the specific needs of the stakeholders effectively. Following the completion of the training, the company engaged in consultations with participants to assist them in their job search. Additional targeted support was provided to those requiring further assistance. As a result, all 10 participants successfully secured employment within the health sector in the local area. During post-training consultations, participants expressed a desire for ongoing professional development through regular annual training provided by the company. Further consultations were conducted with 5 nursing homes and 2 other care providers within the community to assess the impact of the training. These care providers shared insights into how the new hires were settling into their roles and offered invaluable feedback. This feedback will be incorporated into the design and delivery of future training programmes to enhance their effectiveness.
