Principal activities of the company

The principal activity of the company continued to be that of seeking to raise awareness about the human rights abuses taking place as a result of beliefs in witchcraft or sorcery and encourage action by states and individuals to end them. In particular, we aim to raise support for the United Nations Human Rights Council’s Resolution on the Elimination of Harmful Practices Related to Accusations of Witchcraft and Ritual Attack (July 2021).

    Basis of measurement and preparation

    These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Section 1A (Small Entities) of Financial Reporting Standard 102

    Other accounting policies

    Company information The International Network Against Accusations of Witchcraft and Associated Harmful Practices C.I.C is a private company limited by guarantee incorporated in England and Wales. The registered office is 24a St Leonard's House, St Leonard's Gate, Lancaster, LA1 1NN. Reporting period The company was incorporated on 21st December 2022 and commenced trading immediately. Accounting convention These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with FRS 102 “The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland” (“FRS 102”) and the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 as applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime. The disclosure requirements of section 1A of FRS 102 have been applied other than where additional disclosure is required to show a true and fair view. The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the company. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below.

The Network has engaged in the following activities: - Development of a publicly accessible network that aims to draw awareness to the issue of harmful practices elated to accusation of witchcraft and ritual attacks -Networking of individuals and organisations around the world to foster mutual support and learning through support of podcasts and our newsletter and website and events -The holding of an international conference to network and draw attention to the issue and the need for action -Support of public talks about the issue delivered to the public and international community, such as UK agencies, with a view to highlighting the urgency of the issue and the need for action -The holding of a photography competition to draw attention to the issue and foster awareness across the globe -Fundraising with a view to establishing a small grants scheme to provide funds directly to grassroots organisations working on the issue
