Company activities and impact

In the past financial year, MGTY has made a substantial impact on the community by fostering cultural unity, supporting youth development, and bridging gaps between young people, the police, the NHS, and other public sectors. We organised multicultural fashion shows that celebrated diverse cultural stories, including those affected by street and knife crime, and were especially touched by a participant who, before her passing from cancer, inspired many with her resilience and courage. Our initiatives have included impactful projects like organising, packing, and distributing food parcels to families in need. Through various events, we showcased young people’s talents in dance, rap, and song, allowing them to express themselves across languages and genres. Our work caught the attention of the Lord Mayor and Lord Mayor Consort, who recognised our achievements and helped raise our profile, boosting members’ confidence and opening doors to further education and career opportunities. Our members also participated in key discussions, such as the Greater Manchester Race Equality Panel and the Police Race Action Plan, ensuring that community voices are represented and fostering dialogue to break down barriers between young people and the police. Additionally, our youth manage MGTY’s social media platforms, sharing local resources, groups, events, and support services available in the community, benefiting not only individuals but also organisations seeking to connect with local photographers, van hire services, electrical repair professionals, and more. In addition to advocating for community and cultural causes, we emphasised health education, with members achieving certifications in areas like mental health first aid, CPR, and cancer awareness. These achievements reflect our commitment to building essential skills, creating valuable learning opportunities, and empowering individuals to strengthen the community and bridge gaps with key public services.
