Large crowd of participants were noted especially for the Refugee week and Lunar new year lunch. We have established a football club, BE WATER FOOTBALL CLUB, and meet our community regularly to play football. Many related activities were also held for members. They supported each other and became friendly, establishing a relationship of mutual love and mutual help. We have recruited many volunteers, which will be of great help to our future development. Various benefits to the participants and the community were noted: - Practical knowledge on living in UK - Meaningful leisure and social activities - Festive gathering and social networking - UK-HK cultural reflection - Knowing various local community organisations - Learn new skills and popular sports activities - Build up self confidence - Reduce cultural differences and bring people closer together - Target different age groups and benefit the community Generally speaking, we are confident that the various activities done by the BE WATER HONGKONGERS CIC in the year of 2023-2024 catered for the BN(O) visa holders newly arriving in the UK. They covered the demands of elderly, youths, parents, children, sports-loving people and many people.
The CIC's stakeholders are BNO Hongkongers newly settled in the UK, especially Birmingham area, The directors of the CIC are also Hongkongers who have started their new lives in the past few years. Therefore, the CIC was established under the broader sense of facilitating mutual help and support. In all events we organise, we tried to ask for the feedback from the participants (face-to-face conversation where possible, while using questionnaire in other cases). These valuable opinions helped us to design any follow-up activities or adjust our managing. Social media platforms of CIC's dedicated Facebook page and Instagram page are also important channels for us to keep in touch with our fellow stakeholders. Pages were updated and monitored regularly. Messages containing opinions and feedback from stakeholders were received from time to time, kicking off interactive online conversation. Ideas and suggestions were therefore concluded from these opinions.
