Company activities and impact

Exploring Senses (ES) works in partnership with charities, non profit organisations, community groups, local government, businesses and art organisations providing activities, events, mentoring and consultation. ES has continued their Sussex Community Foundation and Brighton and Hove City Council funded project at BACA school this has continued to grow and help out disadvantaged young people. The feedback from the project is still 100% positive, with young people looking forward each week to the session. The session has 20-25 regular attendees, some who have been coming for 4 years, knowing that this is a safe place to bond with their peers and talk freely, whilst learning new skills. ES has witnessed young people attending who do not normally participate in activities, changing and becoming highly engaged, confident and taking enormous pride in their work. ES has been working closely and was funded by the East Brighton Trust to facilitate free summer workshops and throughout the other school holidays. These were held at libraries, a community pub, community centres, youth clubs and for local charity ‘Chomp’ which provides activities and a free lunch for low income families. The sessions were really well attended with between 15-50 people per session. The feedback was fantastic for health and wellbeing, teamwork and engagement. The Million Hours fund by National Lottery ,funded workshops during the summer at Brighton Youth Centre, providing free activities to young people, teaching new skills and sustainability, reusing toys to create new toys, how to design and make your own T-shirts. These were extremely successful with really positive outcomes for the young people. ES worked in partnerships with Dormans Youth Arts Centre in Crawley, funded by the Arts Council to facilitate two sessions a week, using 3D pens and Procreate digital drawing app, to create designs which would be printed onto t-shirts. the young people created Easter egg designs using 3D pens which were showcased at ‘The Hawth’ Theatre in Crawley. This exhibition was really well received by all that saw it, the young people loved that they were exhibiting their own work in public and pride in showing their family and friends. ES was commissioned by Dreamy Place UK and Arts Council to create a short film providing an alternative viewpoint on young persons challenges in daily life . ES worked with young people to create a short film, using lyrics, music and animations created by young people in our free workshops, which was projected onto the side of the Lloyds bank building in Crawley and at ‘Bfest’ at Brighton Youth Centre. The projection was seen by 200 people of all ages, which inspired people to join our other sessions which are available. ES has continued their partnership with the mASCot ‘Inbetweeners’ session for Neuro-diverse 8-14 year olds. The session has about 30 young people and on average 10 parents/carers, who stay during the sessions. The young people love the sessions and successfully create new friendships and increasing engagement. The parents/carers have bonded and use the sessions to support each other. New members join all the time. The feedback to ES has been 100% positive in all sessions, the participants have stated that they feel more confident, focused and enjoy having a place to come where they can talk freely and have made great new friendships. the participants love that they have learned new skills.

We consult with our partners regularly for feedback on our services to ensure that we meet the needs of the communities. This can either be verbally or through feedback forms.
