Company activities and impact

During the tax year, our C.I.C. focused on providing impactful services to support vulnerable young people at critical junctures in their lives. Mentoring in Schools: We continued delivering mentoring programmes in schools, targeting young people identified as being at risk of entering the criminal justice system. These programmes provided one-on-one and group mentoring, focusing on building resilience, fostering positive decision-making, and improving emotional well-being. Boot Camp Programme for Care Leavers: In 2023/ 2024 we expanded our services to include a 12-week residential boot camp programme for young people transitioning out of the care system. This initiative was designed to equip participants with essential life skills, improve their employability, and foster independence. The programme also incorporated follow-up support for an additional nine months to ensure sustained progress. Both initiatives align with our mission of supporting young people to overcome systemic challenges, reduce risk factors associated with poor life outcomes, and promote positive societal contributions.

Consultation with stakeholders

During the reporting period, FORgiving C.I.C. actively engaged with its stakeholders to ensure that its programmes effectively addressed the needs of the communities it serves. Who the stakeholders are FORgiving C.I.C.'s stakeholders include: Young people at risk of entering the criminal justice system: Primary beneficiaries of our mentoring work in schools. Care leavers: Participants in the newly introduced boot camp programme aimed at supporting their transition to independence. Educational institutions: Schools and colleges that collaborated with us to deliver mentoring programmes. Funding partners: Organisations like Phoenix Way Global Fund for Children that support our initiatives financially and strategically. Local authorities and social services: Particularly Birmingham Children’s Trust, for their input on supporting care leavers. How the stakeholders have been consulted Young people: Feedback was collected through surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one sessions both during and after programme delivery to assess their needs and experiences. Schools: Regular meetings with school staff and leadership teams were conducted to align mentoring goals with the needs of students. Care leavers: Consultations took place during programme planning to ensure that the boot camp content addressed their specific challenges, such as housing, employment, and well-being. Funding partners and authorities: Engagements included formal progress updates, consultations, and collaborative planning meetings. Actions taken in response to stakeholder feedback Enhanced programme delivery: Based on feedback from young people, the boot camp programme incorporated additional activities like sports, arts, and music to improve engagement and address diverse interests. Extended follow-up support: Feedback from care leavers emphasised the importance of ongoing support. This led to the implementation of a nine-month follow-up programme to assist with their transition to independence. Improved collaboration: Stakeholder feedback encouraged closer partnerships with local authorities and funding bodies, ensuring resources were effectively utilised and targeted at those most in need. FORgiving C.I.C. remains committed to an ongoing dialogue with its stakeholders to refine its services and maximise its positive impact on the community.
