The company was incorporated in Dec 2022 and during 2023 continually provided an online community radio service for the Lock Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Area. The station was founded because of COVID impacts and recognised the need to provide local news and information to an area not served by other distant local radio stations. - The station operated from the Director's home during the entirety of 2023 yet broadcast a continuous service 24 hours a day providing local information and details of community events across the Trossachs. - The service was broadcast online at www.trossachsradio.com and via multiple apps and smart speakers (Deezer, My Tuner, Radio UK and many more). - A unique Trossachs Radio app was launched in Q4 of 2023, allowing people to listen to our programmes while on the move and to be able to directly contact the station or use our pages on social media platforms. - Local travel news bulletins and weather forecasts were broadcast regularly throughout the day. - Residents from the Trossachs and other parts of Scotland (Killin and Callander areas plus Inverness) presented regular weekly programmes to entertain and inform people in the community. - National News was provided on a regular basis using Radio News Hub based in Leeds. - Weekly political programming was provided by Caledonia Media based in Queensferry, Scotland. - The stations was funded entirely by the Director's personal income. We anticipate this to change by completing funding applications and producing radio commercials for advertisers.
Our key stakeholders are our listeners - organisation and members of the public. During 2023, our audience listening hours grew by 28.4% per month, from 850 hours in January 2023 to 2,990 by the end of December 2023. This recognised a modest but progressive growth of the station and our continuing attempts to reach out to the community. We anticipate larger audience reach during 2024. Feedback from listeners has been given. The public want us to have a focal point making it easier to meet our listeners. It is the aspiration of the station to open a new public studio premises in a prominent part of the Trossachs to reach a larger potential audience. This will also enable us to reach out to politicians, dignitaries, schools and the wider public to broadcast live and recorded interviews. We also aim to reach local businesses and offer them a new advertising medium to reach customers via commercials produced by Trossachs Radio.
