Parable Pod Counselling has provided weekly ‘Free Listening’ Services every Wednesday for the community of Kinross-shire. This Service has been provided by video chat online and in person as required has attracted over 20 participants over the course of the year. Parable Pod has provided paid for Independent Funeral Celebrant Training for 10 students, one place was provided free of charge to an unwaged applicant. Free ongoing pastoral support and mentoring has been provided for 10 graduates in the Civil Funeral Celebrancy community in Scotland. Parable Pod has also carried out a small number of paid for Professional Counselling Sessions with private clients which has enabled the provision of a small number of free professional Counselling Sessions for those in need.
This year a number of stakeholders who are ‘Free Listening’ service users were consulted to inform the way forward with both ‘Free Listening’ Services and paid for Counselling. Stakeholders have enjoyed the flexibility of having Free Listening in an online format and wish this to continue, with a view to having this service continuing to be available in a local community setting following the winter months. Stakeholders who are Counselling Clients have requested that a combination of face-to-face in person sessions and online sessions continue to be made available, this has enabled clients to access services locally and from all over the world, including Australia and England. Stakeholders value and appreciate that their paid for sessions go towards helping others without financial means to access counselling services locally. Stakeholders who are Civil Funeral Celebrant trainees and graduates have requested similar flexibility and the opportunity to network in person. An opportunity was made to Graduates to attend a ‘Jingle Mingle’ social gathering which will repeat every December at the stakeholders request. Stakeholder also requested that where possible one free place be provided per year to an unwaged person seeking to become a Civil Funeral Celebrant. This year this place was provided for 1 person. At stakeholders request Parable Pod is now exploring the opportunity to provide some CPD training for practicing Civil Celebrants and will liaise with SICA regarding this. Graduates have also appreciated and valued the free ongoing pastoral support provided and this will continue next year. Parable Pod continues with consultations with all clients and students who request online video consultations and students on the ‘Whereby’ video platform. All stakeholders report ease of access on all devices from worldwide locations and good quality calls
