Principal activities of the company

Director's Report for Khadi London CIC (2023/2024) Khadi London CIC focused on its mission in 2023/2024 as a hub for promoting regenerative and heritage textiles. Focusing on sustainability, community collaboration, and knowledge sharing, the organization strengthened its partnerships and broadened its impact in the ethical fashion and textile industries. Project Achievements Circular Khadi Initiative: Collaborated with organisations Where Does It Come From?, Conserve India and Khamir Crafts to explore circular textile production using heritage hand powered production 'khadi'. This research, funded by the British Council and administered by UAL, set the foundation for scalable solutions in sustainable textile production. Regenerative Jeans: Khadi London continued its role as a collaborator in the Sanja Stories initiative to produce denim jeans using organic khadi, embedding transparency through digital passports. Educational and Events In October 2023 Khadi London hosted a week long exhibition and conference at the Nehru Centre in London. This was a well attended and vibrant forum covering a wide range of topics relating to regenerative textiles, artisanal empowerment and ethical business practices. Khadi London worked with Chelsea College (UAL) fostering sustainable practices in BA and MA textiles programs. This included student competitions resulting in cross-cultural collaborations with Indian artisan groups. Relationships were also built with other universities including Khadi London participating in a Regenerative Fashion day at Marangoni London. Khadi London also conducted heritage spinning sessions with diverse groups, combining technical skill training with discussions on sustainability and textile heritage. Community and Network Growth Expanded the supporter network through face to face events, knowledge exchange webinars, and growing our Whatsapp Network. Strengthened connections with ethical SMEs, facilitating on-ground relationships between designers and artisan communities. Strategic Goals for the Future Khadi London aims to: 1. Broaden the Circular Khadi initiative across fibers and geographies through attracting more research funding as part of our collaboration. 2. Integrate its regenerative textile principles further into global curricula and industry practices. 3. Expand its events and educational offerings to foster a more responsible fashion ecosystem. 4. Build our consultancy offering to work with organisations and brands who can access our knowledge to support moving to a more sustainable and ethical practice. Financial Overview Sponsorship and donations were received from community members to support our Threads of Change event. Some workshops were also chargeable which supported the creation of the website and business overheads. A membership initiative has started, encouraging members to support our organisation. Research funding enabled new pilot projects, with notable backing from the British Council and UAL. The organisation continues to seek diverse funding avenues to ensure sustainability. Company activities and impact

Principal Activities Khadi London is a not-for-profit knowledge hub in regenerative fibres and textiles. The four pillars of our work are Knowledge, Collaboration,Community and Heritage. Community benefitting communities during the year 2023/4 involved: 1. Creating and running 'Threads of Change' in London during October 2023. This was a free entry event during a whole week which included panel discussions, key note speakers, craft workshops and an exhibition. Speakers included regenerative farming organisations, craft textile producers and education practitioners, with some travelling from India and elsewhere to join us. 2. Building a new website to showcase our knowledge services. 3. Participating in University placement schemes to share our expertise with students across a variety of disciplines. 4. Offering skills workshops in areas such as textile craft. 5. Partnering with community craft organisations in India to apply for research funding to help support and develop their activities.

Consultation with stakeholders

Khadi London CIC's stakeholders include: 1. Our network based globally but currently mainly in the UK and India. 2. Our small team of practitioners who support our work involving delivery of workshops, events, research and consultancy. 3 Our partners who we work with collaboratively to innovate within regenerative textile systems and support through research funding and consultancy.

Directors' remuneration

The total amount received by directors for event delivery work was £500. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors which require to be disclosed.
