Company activities and impact

Arts Council funding and Awards For all, enabled us to create a puppet show Anansi & the Lost Sun. We toured it to isolated Elders, sheltered accommodation, community theatres, schools, festivals, libraries, outdoors spaces where it often gave us the platform to run workshops discussing themes around migration, culture transition, identity & legacy. We delivered a pilot project to isolated Elders with the support of Hackney Circle, in various settings such as sheltered housing, Elders’ lunch clubs & care homes. This culminated in an intergenerational event in The Old Church where Elders and young families watched, participated and ate lovely food. Our organisation went through further development: we deepened on our relationship with partners and were able to knot links with other London based community arts organisations. We also worked away from London and participated as performers and facilitators in community festivals in Blackburn, around Manchester, Skipton, Leeds and other northern cities. Our website and online presence is key to our progress and much effort has been done. Our landscape has become deeply enriched by all the connections we made during these various experiences. We are looking forward to continuing growing and learning from who we meet, work with and exchange.

Consultation with stakeholders

We have consulted with our grant organisations and give them reports on our progresses: Arts Council England,Awards for All National Lottery, London Catalyst, Curious School of Puppetry. The feedback has enabled us to receive grants as well as to complete the projects we have created. We also have discussed our projects and received much mentoring with the following organisations: Arts Admin, Age UK , Hackney CVS, Ubele, The Old Church, Leading Positive Change, Baobab Foundation, POC puppeteer UK, Little Angel Theatre, Hackney Local Education Authority, Growing Communities, The Curve Garden, Redmond Community Centre, Skipton Town Hall, Carn to Cove, Arts Depot. The feedback from these organisations has enabled us to create projects for the community with inside knowledge as well as growing in our capacity to cater for the communities we aim at serving. We also have partnered with some of these organisations enabling us to reach new audiences with support.
