Basis of preparing the financial statements |
Turnover |
Turnover is measured at the fair value of the consideration received or receivable, excluding discounts, rebates, value added tax and other sales taxes. |
Stocks and long term contracts |
Contract balances are calculated by reference to the current stage of completion and the expected final outcomes on individual contracts where the outcome can be estimated reliably. Provision is made immediately for all foreseeable losses. |
Where the recognised contract turnover, based on a valuation of work to date, exceeds the amounts invoiced to date the balance is reflected within amounts recoverable on contracts. |
Where costs are incurred on individual properties or developments for which a contract for sale is not yet in place, or where a contract is at a very early stage, the total costs incurred to date, less any provision for foreseeable losses, are reflected as work in progress. |
