Little Foresters has run 69 sessions of forest school this year. We work with pre school children and their families, home schooled children and school aged children in the school holidays. We have also worked with young people with SEN and with a local Nursery school. Our sessions give the opportunity for young people and their families to be in a green space and learn about the environment by being in it! we run in most weathers and young people learn lots of life skills around what to wear for different kinds of weather. We learn plant ID, insect ID through bug hunting and pond dipping, nature crafts and much more. there is the opportunity to den build, be active, climb, play games and above all, make friends. We always cook a snack on the fire and hot and cold drinks are available. A chance to be away screens in our increasingly sedentary and digitised world is an important one. Young people learn to care about the environment and this will hopefully become part of their outlook as they get older.
