The section of the community that this CIC is aimed at is families in Devon local authority area who have a child or young person with additional needs or disabilities. We cover all of the local authority footprint including hard to reach and hidden families. We act as strategic partners with the local authority and the ICB within Devon regarding the commissioning or decommissioning of services which relate to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Difficulties. We have provided parent carers with a collective voice raising issues of concern with service providers including Health Education and Social Care. We are beginning to see some consideration being given in service developments and delivery to meeting the needs of children and young people with additional needs and or disabilities and their families, although this is only in its infancy. We signpost families to other organisations who can offer support on an individual basis if required.
The companys stakeholders are Parent Carers with Children Young People 0 to 25 with additional needs and or disability living in Devon local authority area. Stakeholders are consulted through the following methods during the year Steering Group meetings Social media Email interaction Meetings Events training workshops peer support sessions Facilitation of direct engagement with Health Education and Local Authority providers Through specific projects such as Autism in Schools and PINS.
