Company activities and impact

The company provides peer support, peer advocacy and information on the Additional Learning Needs system in Wales. The group started on Facebook in February 2020 and incorporated in January 2021. during the financial year 2023-2024 the group has benefited the community in the following ways: - Providing clear, understandable written information on the Additional Learning Needs system in Wales as legislated under the Additional Learning Needs and Educational Tribunal (Wales) Act 2018. - Providing and promoting an online forum for families and carers of children and young people with additional learning needs to ask questions and to support each other, By January 2024 the group had built up to a membership of 1190 individuals, an increase of 410 from the previous January. - Supporting members in preparing for meetings and when necessary, by attending meetings as peer advocates. - Assisting in the drawing up of documents such as appeal applications, subject access requests and formal requests for statutory assessments. - Providing advice and support via the Facebook group, as well as via phone and video calls and occasional meetings.

Consultation with stakeholders

The company's stakeholders are the members of our private Facebook group. The company directors are all part of the Additional Learning Needs community by virtue of being parents to young people with ALN. They have personal experience of the ALN system in Wales and have developed the group based on this experience. Over the year we have posed questions to the group regarding any issues that have arisen which we believed to be of particular importance to them. This has enabled us to remain aware of the support that the community require from us.
