COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

SEVERNSIDE COMMUNITY RAIL PARTNERSHIP C.I.C

Company Number: 05270340 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2024

Company activities and impact

Severnside Community rail Partnership has carried out a range of community based activities based in and around the rail network across the region it serves. This focused heavily on the perceived barriers to rail travel for groups who are lacking in confidence to take the train. This has included those with disability or isolation problems, those whose first language is not English and elderly travellers. Regular 'Days Out by Train' are held for these groups. The Partnership continues to support those who give their time to 'adopt' a local station by making the environment more cheerful and inviting. This has included the supply of new planters and signage. It has also supported art installations on stations with themes appropriate to the locality. Severnside runs Platform, the community based education scheme in schools employing qualified teachers to assist young people to use the train safely and to look at environmental issues in their area. Severnside is accredited by the Department of Transport. Full details are available in the Severnside Annual Report which can be found on the company website Severnside-rail.org.uk

Consultation with stakeholders

The main stakeholders are the principal sponsors who make up the Board. They are drawn from Transport Officers from Bath and North east Somerset; Bristol City; North Somerset; South Gloucestershire and Somerset Councils together with West of England Combined Authority, the train operators for the region and Network Rail. There are also independent members who are active in the community. Projects are referred from individual Board Members and participating groups. Meetings are then held with volunteers and businesses who might be able to assist. The Partnership Manager and her team attend a high number of such meetings throughout the year. They then work to support and see through the projects they adopt. Full details are in the annual report to be found at Severnside-rail.org.uk
