COMMUNITY INTEREST ANNUAL REPORT

EXCAVATE CIC

Company Number: 07569599 (England and Wales)

Year Ending: 31 March 2024

Company activities and impact

It has been a quiet year for the company as we look to reconsider the ways in which we work going forwards. The majority of our activities have been around working with community groups to make audio walks that explore ideas of place and – with the Oakham Canal Green Corridor Audio Guide – how we understand and relate to the natural environment. As with our previous audio walks these works have involved large numbers of community members in the planning, research and recording and have been key projects for the community groups we have worked with, in terms of their development and ongoing sustainability. This work around the importance of green spaces and in finding ways to encourage their use, has been key to our thinking this year. We have been in discussion with a number of community and environmental based groups to explore project ideas which we are currently seeking funding for. We were invited to run a workshop at the international community arts festival in Rotterdam, based on our work in mental health clinics in Kerala. This allowed us to disseminate our working methodology to a diverse group of international practitioners working in the health humanities field.

Consultation with stakeholders

Whilst the company has no specific and ongoing stakeholders each project that is under-taken is done so in consultation with those who have a stake in the specific project. In this case this means that we have: held meetings (in person and online) with community groups in Rainworth to plan the Sherwood Voices audio walk. created a steering group for the Oakham Canal Green Corridor audio guide project and held regular meetings (in person and online) to plan and deliver the work so that as many members of the community as possible were given the chance to contribute, or receive training in heritage based skills.

Directors' remuneration
