Society Alive run various projects towards an overall aim of encouraging social cohesion and integration within the community. Some of our activities within the last financial year include a community cafe that provides warm cooked meal prepared from fresh ingredients to community member, provision of after school academic assistance, art and craft session for families, seasonal events for all the families and more. The community has benefited from our activities in the following ways. Reduction in isolation and loneliness experienced amongst the elderly Increased friendship between community members Increased in intergenerational interaction between the old and young people. Greater confidence in children and young people in dealing with their academic work Community members work more together.
Our stakeholders are the community member, government agencies, other community groups and charities we collaborate and visitors who attend our events. Directors live within the community and model our activities in accordance with our community needs. We consulted the entire community member through our periodic focus group survey and feedbacks from families. Results showed that 90% of the elderly people now say they no longer feel lonely and isolated, a significant number of children and young now aspire to achieve more in live and a lot more families work together as a family.
