Community Benefit Statement for SENDisco CIC During the financial year, SENDisco CIC has actively worked to enhance the well-being of children and young people with special educational needs and their families. The following outlines the specific ways in which our activities have benefited the community: Providing Accessible Recreational Opportunities SENDisco CIC has hosted regular inclusive disco and dance events specifically tailored to children and young people with special educational needs. These events provide a safe, sensory-friendly environment where attendees can enjoy music, dancing, and creative activities, fostering social interaction and building confidence. Promoting Social Inclusion By creating a welcoming space for families of children with additional needs, SENDisco has reduced social isolation and built a sense of community. Parents and carers have expressed gratitude for the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges, forming valuable support networks. Encouraging Creativity and Participation Through themed activities like arts and crafts (e.g., firework crafts), karaoke, and interactive games, SENDisco has encouraged self-expression and creativity in children and young people. These activities also promote skill development and provide an outlet for emotional expression. Supporting Family Well-Being Our events give parents and carers much-needed respite and opportunities to relax while their children are engaged in safe, structured activities. Many parents have commented on the positive impact this has had on their mental health and overall well-being. Boosting Local Engagement SENDisco has strengthened community ties by involving local businesses and volunteers in our events. From providing refreshments to helping with setup and supervision, these collaborations have enriched the community spirit. Enhancing Accessibility By keeping our events affordable and ensuring our venues are accessible, we’ve made recreational opportunities available to families who might otherwise struggle to find suitable activities for their children with additional needs. Feedback from attendees and their families consistently highlights the positive impact of our work, including increased happiness, improved social skills, and greater family cohesion. SENDisco CIC remains committed to growing our reach and impact in the coming year to continue benefiting the community.
