The company is run by and for autistic people with the aim of empowering them to thrive and fulfil their potential. In the year to 30 June 2024 we ran three iterations of our programme “Exploring Being Autistic” which helps autistic adults to better understand themselves and utilise their autistic strengths and mitigate their autistic challenges. We also ran a mixed gender and womens’ only in-person peer support groups and online peer support groups for autistic women and LGBTQI+ people in Reading and further afield which enabled members to overcome isolation and engage more in their local autistic communities. We continued to run our allotment gardening group and craft group in person and held a term of singing sessions. We held monthly drop-in sessions and two community meetings where members could meet up. We have offered eight online talks about autism to members of the public and the attendance at these has increased. Our activities have benefited the community by increasing understanding of autism and facilitating autistic community which in turn supports the mental health of autistic people during difficult times.
The company’s stakeholders are autistic adults. We continue to consult informally with autistic adults who attend our groups and programme and offer an opportunity for more formal feedback at our community meetings. The feedback has been that stakeholders are happy with our provision and have suggested ideas for activity-based groups they would like to attend in the future such as a book group which will run in 2024/25.
During the year, the directors were paid a total of £60,183.36 for facilitating, managing and administrating groups and events and managing the organisation. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
