Company activities and impact

Action for People CIC are the brand owners of Support with Confidence, a scheme that was originally set up by Trading Standards to assist Local authorities to engage and train self-employed Personal Assistants. Action for People acquired the scheme in March 2020, The company has used the scheme to benefit local communities in assisting people to enter the workplace as Personal Assistants. The company has also extended training to those who wish to train in care. This has provided thousands of hours of 'at home' care provision for the Local Authorities in Bracknell Forest, Wokingham, West Berkshire, East Sussex, Nottingham, and Brighton and Hove Local authorities who have operated the scheme during the period. Six local not-for profit organisations have benefitted from training in governance, safeguarding training, and also training in seven other subjects at Level 1 or 2 including, Health and Safety, Manual Handling and Risk Assessment. The company has operated an online learning resource 'Learning Zone' for those involved in Care and also those involved in the Arts and this resource has been free at the point of use for all those involved in not-for-profit organisations. The Learning Zone has also been open to members of the public as a paid facility.

Consultation with stakeholders

Our stakeholders are the Local Authorities with who we work, individuals who we directly assist in their employment through our training schemes - some of whom are volunteers or unpaid carers, and thirdly, individuals who are the beneficiarics of our work. All nine meetings with Local Authorities have been conducted by Zoom or Teams online as many Local Authority employees continue to work from home. Local Authority stakeholders are asked for their input in developing our ongoing work and we tender for service provisions via the Proactis commissioning website. During this period we did not take forward any new paid commissions as we have spent time continuing to develop with the assistance of Bracknell Forest Local Authority a Personal Assistants at home membership network that provides a service 'free for use' by Local Authorities and from which the wider community benefit through volunteers trained in care. We have met in face-to-face in training and development sessions for those in the Arts and Theatre to train in Level 1 or 2 in Safeguarding, Health and Safety and seven other subjects to provide assistance to the community of volunteers in the Arts. Beneficiaries of the work in which w e engage have all been invited to provide comment and input on the current services provided and to offer suggestions for improvement and suggestions for additional support that they would find of benefit.
