Company activities and impact

1. We successfully delivered a workshop with the Arts University Bournemouth on Ableism and Drama practices for new students 2. We performed live poetry as part of the Poole Community Play, opening new audiences to disabled performance (in collaboration with local arts companies) 3. On 21st Jan, we worked with Pavilion Dance South West, performing a live gig as part of their ensemble and yearly open doors showcase 4. Our documentary 'We Are Sailing' about a communication aid user, representing Bournemouth and Poole, its landscape and its artists, was selected for the Palma Film Festival 5.Our company was awarded a grant from Arts Council England for our project Social Media Meltdown, with ambitions to employ creatives, specialists and technicians from the local area, as well as running workshops in schools, colleges and universities about online safety and granting opportunities to graduates to be trained on workshop facilitation and a sharing of Poole Lighthouse in front of the local community, which was achieved later in the year with success 6. Short films 'Many Dates' and 'Lost Poets' were screened and became multi-award winning successes internationally, representing disabled artists on camera, off and on screen 7. Running a workshop for 1voice charity in Hampshire for young communication aid users in the summer 8. Working regularly with Victoria Education Centre to give advice to young AAC students 9. Meetings with Apple, Tobii Dynavox, Sound-Beam and other communication tech developers, advising about their software from the point of view of a communication aid user, to improve the lives of other AAC users 10. Employing another AAC user on freelance to create our logo, with ambitions to employ disabled and marginalised communities further in the year for our other projects
