In 2023, iMatter CIC dedicated its campaign work to fostering inclusion, equality, and systemic change for the disability community. Our efforts were focused on addressing critical issues such as accessibility in retail, a key area where barriers persist, and advocating for solutions that would benefit individuals with disabilities and society as a whole. By concentrating on these important topics, iMatter continued to emphasize the need for a society that values and includes everyone, regardless of ability. A pivotal moment in our work came through our partnership with the Disability Expo 2023, held at the London ExCeL. This flagship event provided a vital platform for engaging with the disability community, listening to personal stories, and gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by individuals across the UK. iMatter was proud to participate in this groundbreaking event, creating opportunities for dialogue and collaboration aimed at uniting the community to deliver real, lasting change. As part of our role at the Expo, we led the highly anticipated People Panel, which became a hub of thought-provoking discussions on a range of pressing social issues. These discussions brought to light critical challenges in areas such as travel, financial security, education, housing, and much more. The panel was not only an opportunity to listen but also to amplify the voices of those who are often underrepresented, ensuring their experiences and insights are placed at the forefront of policy and social reform. Our involvement in the Disability Expo 2023 underscored our commitment to creating spaces where the disability community can come together, share ideas, and collectively shape a more inclusive future. The insights gathered during the event have been instrumental in informing our ongoing work, and we remain steadfast in our mission to advocate for systemic changes that empower individuals with disabilities and enrich society as a whole.
