The Polish Clan Association has been dedicated to enriching the lives of the local community by providing a wide range of activities and services that foster integration, support, and cultural celebration. Our ethos is rooted in serving the public benefit, ensuring inclusivity, and addressing the diverse needs of our community. Key Activities and Achievements (March 2023 – March 2024): Community Events Throughout the year, we organized several events aimed at bringing people together, celebrating Polish heritage, and fostering a sense of belonging. Highlights include: King Charles III Coronation Family Party (May 2023) Polish Heritage Day Festival (May 2023) Summer BBQ Party (July 2023) Polish Festival Honouring Airmen (September 2023) Magic Circus Show and Family Halloween Party (October 2023) Polish Independence Day Event (November 2023) Christmas Fair and Party (December 2023) UV Disco Party for Children (February 2024) These events engaged over 5,000 participants, providing opportunities for cultural exchange, family fun, and community bonding. Christmas Hampers Initiative December 2023 marked the 4th year of our Christmas Hampers program. We prepared and distributed 57 hampers, benefiting 109 people, including families, the elderly, and homeless individuals. The initiative, funded by the Polish Embassy in London and local donors, provided essential support to those in financial hardship and reinforced our commitment to community welfare. Monday Family Club Operating weekly at the Hounslow Youth Centre, this open-access club offers activities for all age groups, including Polish dance classes for children, arts and crafts, and fitness sessions for adults. Weekly attendance averages 20–30 participants, creating a space for relaxation, skill-building, and friendship. Workshops and Campaigns In response to the rising domestic violence cases within the Polish community, we launched an awareness campaign in partnership with the Domestic Violence Team. Key initiatives included: - Two six-week self-defence courses benefiting 40 women. - A Wellbeing Workshop for 20 women to improve understanding of domestic violence and available resources. Volunteering Opportunities We provided meaningful opportunities for 52 volunteers, who contributed to delivering projects, organizing events, packing Christmas hampers, and supporting community needs. Collaboration and Partnerships We have forged strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Polish Embassy, local councils, food banks, and cultural organizations. Notably, we work as cultural advisors with Creative People & Places to promote arts within Hounslow and maintain active membership in the Independent Advisory Group with the Metropolitan Police, addressing local challenges and fostering safety. Community Impact Our activities have positively influenced the community by promoting cultural awareness, reducing social isolation, providing essential support, and fostering a sense of unity among diverse groups. These achievements underscore our commitment to delivering tangible benefits to the public and serving as a vital resource for the Polish and broader local community.
We actively collaborate and work with a range of partners and stakeholders across various sectors. In the public sector, our partnerships include the Polish Embassy in London, the London Borough of Hounslow, the London Borough of Ealing, West London Public Health, the Metropolitan Police, and the Hounslow Domestic and Sexual Violence Outreach Service. In the third sector, we engage with several NGOs and community organizations such as Creative People and Places Hounslow, Storehouse Food Bank Feltham, Anne Shine Community Foodbank, Hounslow Foodbank, Holy Trinity Church, POSK in Hammersmith, Medical Aid for Poles, MS Society Hounslow, Janahanda Foundation, Disability Network Hounslow, Refugees Welcome Hounslow, and the East European Resource Centre. Additionally, we collaborate with the Metropolitan Police Polish Association, the Eastern European IGVA, and Poland Street. Consultation and Engagement Activities 1. Membership in the Independent Advisory Group (IAG) with the Metropolitan Police We attended monthly meetings to discuss and address local community issues, including safety concerns and cultural integration challenges. Feedback from these meetings guided our community safety initiatives and strengthened our collaboration with law enforcement. 2. Collaboration with Creative People & Places As Polish Cultural Advisors, we regularly consult with Creative People & Places to design arts and cultural events. Feedback from participants has informed the planning of inclusive and vibrant experiences tailored to the community's preferences. 3. Support for Local Foodbanks Through ongoing partnerships with local food banks, we responded to community feedback by streamlining the referral process and expanding the reach of food assistance services. 4. Domestic Violence Awareness and Support Campaign Our collaboration with the Hounslow Domestic and Sexual Violence Outreach Service involved consultations with service users and experts to design impactful workshops and self-defence courses. The success of these programs, reflected in participant feedback, encouraged us to explore similar initiatives for the future. 5. Community Feedback Mechanisms During events and workshops, we collected feedback directly from participants through surveys and informal conversations. This input influenced event planning, ensuring our activities cater to diverse needs, age groups, and interests. Actions Taken in Response to Feedback 1. Enhanced the variety of activities offered at our Monday Family Club, introducing additional workshops and classes based on participant suggestions. 2. Expanded the reach of the Christmas Hampers Initiative to address the increasing demand for support among financially struggling families. 3. Adjusted the content and structure of domestic violence awareness workshops to include topics specifically requested by participants, such as mental health support and legal guidance. 4. Strengthened collaboration with public sector partners to address gaps in service delivery highlighted during consultations.
